It was a beatiful morning. I had woken up before my alarm this morning. I looked around, my eyes half lidded with laziness.
For about ten minutes I just laid there waiting for my alarm to go off.
'Bring bring bring'
I quickly sat up, slapping the button to turn off the annoying sound of my alarm. I pulled myself out of bed, scowling at the clock that read 5:30 am.
I put my slippers on, unplugged my phone, and left my room entering the room across the hall.
The second I opened the door i put my hand over my mouth and nose to try and cover the overwhelming scent of achohal and cigarette smoke.
"Mom, time to get up." I mumbled, my words garbled slightly by my hand as i walked up and shook the sleeping woman.
"Leave me alone Claire," my mother huffed slapping my hand softly. I sighed.
"Better get up soon or youll miss breakfast and another day of work." I said leaving the room quickly, slamming the door behind me.
I walked into the kitchen of our small house slowly, letting out a small scream at the mouse on the floor in front of me. I quickly looked around the room until i found the small grey tabby kitten scampering over to see why i was screaming. The kittens eyes lit up when she saw the mouse and began to jump around trying to catch the mouse.
"Good girl Tinu!" I cheered as she caught the mouse. I quickly put on a cloth glove and picked up the mouse before Tinu could kill it.
I cringed as it squirmed in my grip as i carried it outside. When i opened up the door i quickly threw the mouse outside and slammed the door shut.
"Your such a good girl Tinu, lets go get you a snack!" I cheered heading back to the kitchen, the grey kitten at my heals bouncing happily. I grabbed the cat treat bag and handed two treats to her as i looked around the broken building i caller hoem, dingy, smelly, and old, but it had been where i had lived my whole life. If i had one wish it would be to move out, get mom some help, and live a better life but i know thats nevee gonna happen. Ive just learned to find the beauty in life.
