I leaned up against the hood of my Mustang, gazing at the pink sunset that shined over the desert floor. It was one of the perks about living in Reno, one of many.
The cool breeze brushed across my cheeks, announcing the drawback of the summer months, and the soon to come winter season. Those were the best times. The snow that would pile across the ground in a soft sheet of white, was what I looked forward to the most.
I sighed, turning to walk into the Walmart.
"Alright," I began mumbling to myself, "I just need to get a few things for the apartment."
Since the age of 16, I'd been living on my own, in a quaint, but lively, apartment complex. It was just enough for me, and I worked so hard for it. During the day I was a nanny for two of the most adorable kids, while in the evenings I worked as a cashier/cook for a local pizza place. It was a lot of work, but it's what I did. It's who I was.
My hands reached for one of the cold, gray carts hidden in the corner of the entrance. I set my beige Steve Madden bag inside, and clutched the list of what to get in my hand.
To get
1. Milk, Orange Juice, Pomegranate Juice
2. Eggs and Chorizo (other breakfast stuff)
3. Sandwich stuff
4. Greek Yogurt
5. Spinach, Celery, Peppers (red, green), tomatoes (cherry), acorn squash, snow peas
6. Raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, cherries, bananas, kiwi
7. BeddingThe doors opened, greeting me with a warm sensation of air. The shopping center was quite abandoned, being that it was almost 12am, so it left me feeling calm.
I took the first left, leading into the medicinal/beauty isles.
"Hmmm...well, I don't think I need anything here, but there is no shame in looking." That always seemed to be the case.
I gazed down the short racks that held the medicines, and swiped some of the mini Advil pills that I eventually found, chucking them in the cart. I then added a collagen serum, and gummy vitamins.
Moving on to the beauty section, I stared off into the racks of makeup. Since graduating, I hadn't been wearing much makeup, and instead had been focusing on my skin care. However I still enjoyed looking, scouting for any little finds.
About 20 minutes later, my focus finally turned to what I actually needed to buy, so I walked towards the room decor section of the store. Bedding was one of my most favorite things to have handy, cause you never know what mood you might be in.
One day I'm in the mood for pinky, fluffy, goodness, and the next I want a deep navy. it really just depends.
Today, I needed white. White bedding, white pillows. White.
I just recently redecorated my apartment, and the best way it could be described is using the term "minimalist". Basic, yes. But perfect, oh definitely.
I ran my hands over the different styles and fabrics, debating in my head which ones I preferred. Eventually, my face knocked into something hard.
"Stupid aisle walls, always getting in the flipping way!" I pressed a hand to my face, feeling for a bump or mark.
A deep voice then spoke.
