Thank you for clicking on Cake and Cosmic Apotheosis! There are a few quick things you need to know before you go on! I advise that you read this before continuing. I'll be as brief as possible, as I know introductions are not usually what readers look forward to.
So I have two things to say, really, and the second one's way more important than the first.
(1) Cake and Cosmic Apotheosis is truly just a medium through which I can try my hand at teen fiction. Save for Dictionary, this is my first time writing anything like this. Yay for trying new things! But that means that the rest of the stories on my profile do not look like this. When I find a story I really like, I usually go to the author's profile to find more of their writing. Cake and Cosmic Apotheosis, however, was written especially for Pride Month and doesn't really resemble any of my other books.
I've read teen fiction here on Wattpad and am honestly just copying the format of a bunch of cool stories. I used purposeful lowercase in the blurb because the aesthetic generally appeals to readers of teen fiction. I made a cast purely because most popular teen fiction stories have one. I'll be writing in the first person because it generally attracts teen fiction aficionados. Again, this is my first time writing anything like this, so I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing. But it's important to try new things!
(I mean, there are definitely...some elements of science fiction, which is my usual genre. I've tried as best as I can to keep the science to a minimum, but science is just so cool.)
(2) This book is gaaaay! The main characters are in a queer relationship, and if that bothers you, you probably shouldn't have chosen to read a book with the acronym "LGBTQ+" in the title! Our lovely unreliable narrator also identifies as nonbinary or genderqueer and uses various pronouns.
Now, for the big one:
I WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY HOMOPHOBIA OR TRANSPHOBIA FROM ANYONE.
No insulting comments, no gatekeeping rhetoric, no anti-neopronoun speech, etc. You can veil your hate speech as "discourse" on Tumblr, but not in my comments section. (I don't mean to sound rude, but seriously. Let's not be mean.)
Our protagonist is literally immortal. Singular they wasn't considered a very reputable pronoun for a while, which means they would've had to refer to themself with different pronouns up until the twenty-first century. Hence "various pronouns"--including neopronouns.
That's all! If you guys think I should write an extended summary after I publish the first few chapters, I will. Updates should come twice a day until the end of Pride Month, as the chapters are super short. If you made it all the way through the introduction, you get a hug! Yay!
HAPPY READING!
