I met Ben in the hallway. He's changed into a polo shirt and khaki pants. It's the nicest thing I'd ever seen him in and I have to snigger. He gives me an annoyed look and glances at me up and down. "have you looked at yourself anytime soon? Hmm?" I glance down at my dress. "They didn't have any pants!" I exclaim. He laughs. "I bet they didn't." I punch him lightly and we walk to the dining car. When we get there Tanya is already there with the man I suppose is out mentor. He's ancient man, at least 90 years old. "Sit." Tanya tells us and I flop into the nearest seat. The table is layered with the widest and most delicious looking dishes I've ever seen. Now, in 10 we eat well enough, we don't starve, but we never have a surplus of food. I loaded my plate with everything in reach and start stuffing my self. I glanced over and saw Ben is doing similarly. We both understand the need to gain some weight before we go into the arena so we don't starve in there. "Tomorrow morning we reach the Capitol. Look excited! Remember you are tributes, only 24 people a year get this opportunity." I laugh. Tanya glares at me and I scowl. "Off to bed! Both of you," she barks. I stand up quickly. And walk off into the hallway. Ben looked wistfully at his still half full plate and follows. He grabs my arm in the hallway. "Endy!" I stop. "What is it?" I ask wearily. "I have something for you." I raise an eyebrow. Ben reaches I to his pocket and pulls out a silver chain with a horse charm on the end. He holds it out to me. "this is for you." he says. I take it carefully. "you sure?" I ask and he nods. "thank you Ben." I say with a smile. He leans forward and kisses me lightly on the cheek. "you're welcome." he says, and then turns and walks into his room. I turn I to my room as if in a trance and quickly change. I place the necklace on the table and slip in between the coves. I'm asleep in seconds.
