Clarke and Bellamy hadn't left their cabin for three days. They were so wrapped up in their bubble of love that they hardly left the bedroom. On the fourth day, they finally left their newly wedded bliss and things returned to normal. Clarke was surprised to find people were still talking about their day and commented on how great it was. People congratulated them on their way through camp as they headed for the dropship. As they entered, Raven looked up from the radio and grinned.
"Hey strangers!" She beamed at them.
"Hey, hows it going in here?" Clarke asked with a smile.
"I've got good news and bad news." Raven sighed.
"Okay?" Bellamy said.
"Good news is, I got this heap of trash to work again!" Raven grinned. Clarke's eyes widened and she took an eager step forward. Bellamy caught Ravens expression and reached a hand out to pull Clarke back.
"The bad news, is I can't reach anyone. I'm getting nothing but static." Raven sighed.
Clarke stopped and looked at Raven.
"So what does that mean?" Clarke asked.
"It could mean their radio works, but no one is answering." Raven said, trying to break the news as gently as possible. "But it could also mean that we're not on the same frequency anymore." She hastened to add.
Clarke's eyes dropped to the floor. Her hopes of her mother being alive shattered around her.
"Clarke." Bellamy said softly. He reached for her hand but she pulled away sharply.
"Don't." She snapped and moved to the other side of the room. Bellamy watched as Clarke slid down the wall, slowly sinking to the floor. She buried her face in her hands and her shoulders began to shake.
"Go on, I'll keep trying." Raven said quietly, nodding her head towards Clarke.
Bellamy walked over to her and crouched down in front of her. He took her hands from her face to reveal her tear stained cheeks and red rimmed eyes.
"Clarke, this isn't a dead end. It just means it's gonna be a little harder than we thought to find them." Bellamy said softly.
"What if we don't find them? What if we're too late." Clarke whispered through her tears.
"We will. I promise I won't stop looking until we find them. Or at least find out what happened to them." Bellamy swore.
Clarke nodded and wiped her eyes on the back of her hand. Bellamy pressed his lips to her forehead and stood up, pulling her up with him.
"What do we tell camp?" Clarke asked.
"The truth." Bellamy shrugged.
Crowds gathered around the ramp to the dropship as Bellamy stood in the centre. Clarke stood behind him slightly with Raven at her side. Once everyone had gathered, Bellamy turned his attention to the crowd.
"Some of you may have heard whispers about us trying to contact the ark again. About us planning to look for them. Well I'm here to tell you that yes, we are." Bellamy paused to let the information sink in before continuing. "I know we've survived without them for four years, but winter is coming fast and we're running low on supplies. Our best chance of survival, especially with the threat of war looming over us, is with them."
The crowd began to mutter between themselves. Clarke could hear the mixed reviews of the idea. Some complained, saying they didn't need the ark. Others agreed saying they did need them. Most just looked lost.
"In two days time, we're going to organise search parties to start the search. If anyone would like to volunteer, see Raven." Bellamy finished.
Clarke was about to turn back into the dropship when a boy of around 19 stepped towards the front of the crowd.
