I groaned as I lifted the last box into place. Working in your own busness has its perks, mostly being your own boss and not having people shout at you for every little thing. Though that also meant that you have to hire your own emplyoees.
From my last experiance on hiring anyone, I nearly got killed! Thankfully their younger sister was much nicer and could handle rush hours like a champ! However, they have the day off and I'm the only one working here! God don't I just wish to work in that old cafe... I could get some naps in...
Shaking my head, I quickly hurried to get the orders to my customers that were coming in a bit later. I wanted to make sure that the cakes had time to warm up a bit.
The most famous of my food being my puff pasties. Everybody loves how sweet they are! Not that I blame them, sometimes I just want to swipe a few off the shelves too! However, the money from the shop helps me keep it running as well as keep my house so I can't...
"Hello, Mr. After." A plump bunny hopped up.
"Hello, Ms. Amythest." I smiled at her as I got the raspberry puff pastery turnovers. They were her favorites. "Here's your order, see you next week?" I asked, she always comes in the next week, at the same time to get some more turnovers.
The bunny handed over her money as I rung up her recite. Simply she shook her head, showing her ring hand. Right there on her ring finger was a pure pink diamond ring. It popping out against the monster's pale violet fur.
"I'm getting married in a few months... I was wondering if me and my fiance can come here and order a cake..." She bit her lip, wanting to know my answer.
My jaw couldn't stay close! She finally was getting married! It was wonderful! She really needs something good in her life.
"Of course! I want to meet the lucky fellow!" I called out, smiling happily for her.
"Thank you, Geno. I hope you have a wonderful night." With those last words, she left.
Next came the last three customers. We had small talk, mostly making orders for the next month, or something like that.
When I finally was able to close, I was exhausted! That was all before I had to clean it up!
Once done taking care of the small shop, I left for home, just wanting to relax and enjoy some homebaked cupcakes that I made the night before. My roommates knew better than to eat something that was labeled with G, since it meant that either that I was going to use it later or that I was going to eat it.
Soon I could see my house. My house was simple enough, it was two stories with a garage that could fit at least two of our cars. The place also had a small attic where I'd put my junk since no one else wants to part with their shit and a basement, where I usually trained my body to handle some more pressure. The front lawn had a rose flower bed with a few lillies in the mix. The entire place was the color of misty green with accents of a darker green color.
I liked the place, it was cozy and there was plenty of bedrooms for a few guest, since there was five of us people sharing the house anyway. Half of my roommates are Christans, who are bff's, meaning they share their own room. The other half are Satanist and worship the fucking Devil. They only share a room so they could converse in peace without the other two getting in the way of that.
Me, I'm an atheist. I just believe once I'm dead, I'm nothing more than a memory. I get my own room, downstairs near the kitchen. That honestly left three extra rooms with one spare bathroom on each floor, me having my own since it's the master's.
The house was simple, though wasn't really bad. Had a big kitchen and dining room. The living room was fairly big enough for all of us and a couple visitors. The place was perfect for me.
I stretched out my back, groaning as the pain in my body came back and at full force too. It would take the entire weekend to get back up to speed with this type of soreness! And I was open tomorrow!
"Hello." A voice called out as I entered my place.
I jumped and turned towards it. A white skeleton like myself was sitting in the dark red cotton armrest. He wore a black cloak that that was pulled together with a short rope that was pinned by a skull chip.
"Um... Who are you?" I hanged my keys on the hooks as I kicked the door closed, all soreness forgotten.
"Reaper, Mister-" He paused, waiting for me to continue.
"After. You can just call me Mr. After... Um... How long are you staying here?" I muttered, tiredness seeping into my hurting bones.
"Oh, for a while. Two very kind humans said that it would be alright as long as I help out with a few things." The monster smiled at me kindly.
I froze at his words... He wasn't visiting...
"How long is a while?" My voice became guarded as I closed my eyes, rubbing them.
"Oh, maybe a few years or so." Reaper simple shrugged, smirking at me as I snapped my eyes open.
I growled under my breathe as I stormed to the bottom of the stairs. Those little bitches!
"Ivy, Layla, Liam, Alexander! Get your furry behinds down here now!" I shouted up the stairs, knowing they would be there. They're always there.
Quickly the sound of doors opening and being slammed shut was sounding through the house as my four roommates raced downstairs. They knew I never called them by their real names unless I was either super excited or pissed.
I tapped my foot as the four of them rushed downstairs. All four women, yeah I'm the only guy in the house hold, ran over to the couch and sat down quickly, coming to attention.
However, Layla and Alex quickly jumped up and backed to the stairs once more. They held that 'hell no' face with wide eyes, not that I gave a fuck.
"We're not staying near that!" Layla shouted, pointing to the cloaked monster.
"Sit your fucking flat asses down." I growled at them, they immediately doing as I said so.
"What are we called down for?" Ivy dared question me, glaring straight at me!
I bit the inside of my mouth as I growled lowly...
Let's just say that things weren't going to end well for these four bitches.
