At night,New York seems beautiful,it's numerous lights glowing like a beacon of salvation in the vast darkness. The truth is it's the most dangerous time to be out, this adds to the thrill of what it is to live in this place.
Kitty Holt was finally free from work, leaving Carter Corp. behind with her friend and co worker Matt Ortega. The so called "bad boy with a big heart".He was famous in his own way every where he went. And honestly, since her hard change in life with moving from the deserted countryside to the big city so quickly,he was a blessing.Everything was utterly chaotic as soon as she stepped foot here, but he was a breath of fresh air for her.He could ofcourse be completely annoying at times, but what best friend isn't?He has been the truest friend she had ever had,and in the least amount of time in the few months she had lived this new, crazy life.
He was about to pull her even further out of her shell tonight. He claimed he was close friends who started a band together, and were getting pretty popular.Simply, she must come to see them perform with him tonight. She needed to get out, live, party!.His excuses were moving, for sure...
She rolled her marble grey eyes and sighed at the memory.
"Uh oh,someone sounds like they're already having the time of their lives over there! What's up already, princess?."
Matt teased her from her side, knowing exactly why she was sighing, but as always decided to rib her anyway.
"I would bother answering just to make sure you understand just how put out I am at being guilted, blackmailed, and bribed to go to hear your half-baked rag-time band buddies lull the town drunks to sleep, but I need more breath to continue sighing to brace myself.Since I only have myself to blame for letting you take me."
Matt snickered. The two of them were perfect friends in the way that, neither of them could hold their tongues to save their lives. The temptation of sarcasm was just too much.
"Nah,sweetie you haven't heard them yet.I know you, you're too curious. You're too in love with music to let this pass you by.You'll love them,I promise.Besides, for the sake of my limbs health alone I know better than to drag you around to places you hate by now!." He winks, and checks his watch in one move.
"Which we better hurry, they should be starting by seven."
Matt was right.About music and it's effect on her.She had adored music, all kinds of music, since she was very small. But since her family wanted her to 'succeed and stop daydreaming',she was not to live out her real dream. She would sneak into her school's music room to practice on the piano after school,of course. But the life of a paper-pusher was more attractive, and practical. She needed a dose of reality, this was what she was taught. So,her parents applied her for Carter Corp.Atleast her art lessons could be put to use as a concept drafter.
Any chance to be close to music was like a wound in her pride, her forgotten dreams. But she still welcomed it like a teenage girl and her first love.It hurt to remember, but she needed it.Matt knows this well.
She had only enough time to change into a simple black tank top, jean shorts, and sneakers.Matt had obviously been planning this whole thing, since he had his leather jacket, necklace, even his cap and boots.
She re-tightened her blood red ponytail, which felt far more comfortable than the stiff pinned up bun she usually wears to work. She was mostly relaxed, and although her outfit was a last second resort,it was comfortable.'It's a rock event anyway'she thought.
The problem was Matt tried to walk her behind the building of thier destination.
"Matt.Even I know never to walk in a back alley way at night,in NY."
