"Colin! Colin! Wake up!" it was the crack of dawn and i was sleeping in my treehouse. My brain was thinking " no 10 more minutes of sleep please." But I had no choice, for that was the call of the local rancher in my home village I lived in Ordon. It was named after the goddess Ordona. It's a peaceful place really I even have a favorite spot to hang out. Right by the river. Oh by the way I'm visually impaired. .

"Hey Colin, time to start herding goats."  Ohhh boy, goat herding. One of the hardest things for a half blind man to do. Regardless, I climb down from my treehouse and enter the spring of Ordona. There awaits my trusty steed named Epona. She is a beautiful quarter horse. Her tack and saddle were already on him (Illia must have already put it all on) Illia is a good friend of mine. She is younger than I am, but she is a very kind young lady. In no time at all I was at the Ordon Ranch. It was a beautiful place, Lots of green grass and open spaces and lots of goats. "Hey Fado" I shouted "I'm all set to go." Out came Fado, One look at his clothing in my eyes and you think it's a woman. But no, he's a buff man with curly blonde hair. "Ah It's about time you showed up." said Fado "Well, you see that barn behind me?" "Yep" I answered. He had told me this several times before. I didn't mind, he kept telling me this because of my sight. Actually, it was easy to see, a brown building in a big green field. Not hard to miss at all. It was an easy job to do. There was a slight drawback though. If a goat got mad, it would try to knock me of the horse. Thankfully that did never happen to me, but there were some close calls. I took ten minutes to get all the goats in the barn. "Thank goodness they are all in there." said Fado happily, :Allright Colin, you are free for the rest of the day!" A whole day off, wow! With that, I went back to my treehouse and took a nap.

"Yo, Colin! Wake up, There is something you should check out" It was Beth, one of my friends calling me. Her mother Sera ownd a shop here in town.  "What is it?" I asked. "Come down and I will tell you" Well, I did have the whole rest of the day off. So, I went down to see what all the excitement was about. It wasn't just Beth, Talo and Malo were there as well. "So what's going on?" I asked "Colin, you are not gonna believe this" said Beth  "But my mom said there ids a new item at her shop. It's a slingshot!." "A slingshot? what use would that be?" "You know I can't see too well. I can't shoot the broadside of a barn" I replied. "We know that." said Talo. "But we want you to just give it a try." said Malo "We believe in ya man!" "Thanks guys, yeah I'll give it a go" It took me about a minute to get into the village. Most of the villagers were outside doing something. One of the women in the village had one son and was expecting another one. Her name was Uli. Her son's name was Link. She was going to call him Colin, but it would be a bit of a mix-up because my name is Colin. Link was a small boy, about six or seven years old, with short blonde hair. His mother Uli however was beautiful, also with blonde hair. She had a husband named Rusl, who was a muscular man. Uli seemed really worried about something so i asked her what was wrong. "Colin, you see those monkeys over there? Well, they took my cradle that I had made for the baby." I looked all over the river. Sure enough, there were two little monkeys jumping up and down. In between them however, was a brown wickerwork cradle. "I'll try to get it for you Ma'aam" I said. "Really? Thank you! Be careful!"

Just as I was starting to come up with a plan, I heard someone calling me. "Hey Colin" It was one of the villigers and he is realy big into science. "Oh hey whats up?" I asked, glad to see his face. "Well, you see that beehive above my house?" I looked upe from his house, lo and behold there was a huge beehive with lots of yellow and black insects with stingers on their rear. "Yes I do." I answered. He told me he wanted to investigate the hive and get a sample of bee larvae. But how? There must be a way to knock it down. "Hmm, very interesting. I'll think of a way" I said. "Okay, good luck and be careful." With that, I proceeded to the river to cool off for a bit. Just as I was getting close to the river, I saw a man standing on top of a rock piller. "Yo, come on up here." I did not know exactly who that was. I looked up and there was Jonathan. He was standing on top of a huge pillar with vines I could easily climb on. Jonathan was short. But he had black hair and a black beard to match and he was a bit chubby. "Hey Colin, come and blow on this grass" He said "No thanks, I don't smoke." I said. "Nah man, this won't get you high just trust me." He said. I climbed to the top of the pillar, it was an incredible view from the top. I could literally see the whole village from here. I stepped forward and looked at the grass. Sure enough, it wasn't tobacco. The grass had a little whistle on it, people around here called it "Whistle Grass" I blew in it. A Melody came out of it. Nothing happend at first, so I thought I'd be funny and mess with Jon. "Ooooohhhhh maaaan!" I said as if I were on drugs "I see rainbows!" "Really?" Jonathan asked. "Nah, just playin' with ya buddy! GOTCHA!" "Nice one bro." said Jonathan who was laughing. Little did I realize that I had a hawk on my shoulders. He was a beautiful creature with dark red fur, red and white feathers, and very sharp claws. Just then, I remembered the task one of the villagers had given me. So I aimed for the beehive and shot the hawk in that direction. It hit the top of the hive with excellent accuracy. It was a good thing that he was not standing by the beehive because it came down and then burst open. Bees came flying out like crazy and scattered in different directions. Thankfully no one in the village got stung. "Whoa good job man. Not bad for a half blind dude! There is another patch across the shop roof." With that, I looked across the shop roof. Sure enough, there was another pillar with whistle grass. It was actually easier than it looked. I hopped down to the roof, walked tiptoe across it. Five secconds later, I found myself on that other pillar. It was a straight shot to those monkeys on the rock who were holding Uli's cradle hostage. So I took a blade of whistle grass, the hawk was back on my shoulders. I put the hawk in my hand, aimed for the cradle and let the hawk loose. The hawk grabbed the cradle in its claws and came flying back to me. Once it was close to me, the hawk dropped the cradle over my head. I reached up and grabbed it just in time. With cradle in hand, I jumped down off the pillar. Now being a visually impaired man with no depth perception (Which is a little scary, frankly), I managed to somehow land on my feet from the jump. I landed right next to the pumpkin patch. I was on my way to Uli's house when I heard her calling me. "Oh thank the goddesses" she cried "My cradle is safe and sound thanks to you Colin! Why don't you come over to my place, there's something I want you to have."

Unsure of what it was, I followed her to the house which was on top of the hill. It was a small house, but inside it was very cozy. "Ah, there you are." she said. "So...what's going on." I asked, a little bit nervously. "I want you to have this." she pointed at a fishing rod that was on the table. I rarely got to go fishing but now with the rod i have, i can do it a lot more. Fishing was one of my favorite things to do. "Thank you so much." I said in excitement. "You are welcome." After that, I decided to go across the river to the docks. When I got to the fishing dock, there was a little black and white cat sitting by the river. This cat belonged to Sera, the local shop owner. "Hey, little guy. You trying to catch some fish or something?" The cat had his face in the water hoping that a fish would jump out. "I'll catch one for you." I said. I got out my fishing rod and cast it into the river. Five secconds later, I had a nibble on my line. I reeled it in very slowly. It was a Greengill, it was at least thirteen inches. As soon as it came up, the ca jumped up and caught it right off the hook and put it into his mouth and rushed back to the shop. After spending thirty rupees for a slingshot, I went back to my house. The kids were still out front. Link was there as well. "Nice, you got it. What took you so long?" Beth asked. "Sorry guys, got a little sidetracked." "Come check this out " said Talo. I looked around, there were red archery style targets as well as a couple of bulblin dummies. "Try it out, Colin" said Malo. So I drew out my slingshot and aimed for the target nearest to me. Surprisingly, I hit the target dead-center. "Whoa!" exclaimed Talo "Not bad for a half-blind guy." "Yeah a half-blind archer, Ordona help us all!" It was an incredible feeling, I had managed to hit all the targets. After a while, Talo gave me a wooden sword and taught me swordplay. He taught me the vertical and horizontal slash, the sword jab, and the spin attack. It took me a couple of hours to get the movements down "Well, Well, not bad. You will really go far with those sword techniques as long as you......" His sentence was interrupted by a peculiar sound. Just then, Beth's pet monkey came up the hill and headed straight to the village gate. The monkey was small and had brown fur and big ears. "Hey come back here you little creep!" I yelled. He was headed straight for Faron Woods on the outskirts of town. "Somebody get him!" yelled Beth. "I got it." I said. "Are you sure?" she asked. "No sweat." "It's too dangerous." she said. "Uh hello, I've got a sword. If there's danger, BRING IT!" I said with finality. "Thank you." said Beth. And that is where my adventure really began.
