As an author, I try to upload at least once a week and I usually try to make each chapter minimally 1,000 words. I usually end up writing more and uploading more because I'm overly excited. Please comment any feedback or suggestions, thank you!
*Crude language and mature subjects will be used throughout the story
Enjoy :)
Avery's POV:
"They say 'be different' and 'stand out in a crowd'. But what really happens when I do? I get judged, bullied, and looked down upon. It's just so stupid!" I groan to my best friend, Caden, as we look at the Instagram account used to mock and bully me. The username was @averysnotshit and all the posts were ugly, edited photos of me that I didn't even know were taken. All the captions were horrible and mean.
"I know, Aves. But don't change yourself, I love you for you. We'll get back at Hailey at some point. Let's just go downtown. I know what will cheer you up." Caden replies, equally as upset. He was good looking and considered popular, but he still loved my stupid "tomboy" self. I don't like thinking of myself as boy-ish, just... not very girly.
I nod a bit and he drags me out and plops me into the passenger seat of his mom's minivan. He grins like a doofus and says, "You know what I'm thinking?"
I grin back and laugh, "It's fries and milkshake time, baby! Woo!". And that's exactly what would happen next. We'd pick up the rest of our friends, and go to good ol' McDonald's.
First, we picked up Liam, another one of my amazing friends who is amazing at soccer. "So, who's down in the dumps today?" he asks, knowing that fries and milkshakes was a cheering up ritual.
I sigh and say, "Me. Hailey made an Instagram account about me and obviously it's nothing good."
"Wow, what a bitch. She should go back to posting selfies," he says and rolls his eyes. Caden and I chuckle in agreement. We then go on to pick up Charlie, Mason, Sam, and Daniel, all of which had the same reaction.
After picking everybody up and heading to McDonald's, I say "I mean I guess I get why she'd make that account. I'm ugl-", then get cut off by everybody smacking me. "Ouch. Sorry," I mumble, rubbing my sore arm. Sometimes I hate how overprotective they were, but I really do love them for it.
We pulled up in the McDonald's parking lot and scramble to get in. "I haven't had McDonald's in ages!" Sam exclaims.
"Sam, it's been two days," Liam bluntly says, making everybody burst out in laughter. We all get the same order of a large fry and vanilla milkshake. Healthy, right?
Once we get all the food, we go to a booth and all sit together. I dig in right away.
"Wow, Aves, very ladylike!" Daniel jokes, making me red and the rest burst out in laughter.
"Hey, I'm the reason why we're here! Hush up!"I grouchily grumble, continuing to stuff my face.
"Okay, woman, geez!" he defensively says, arms up in surrender. He then continues to piss me off by leaning to the boys and he mouths "PMS". I roll my eyes, not letting it get to me.
And just as soon as I completely forgot about Hailey, I hear her annoying voice enter the room and say, "But baby, I don't want McDonald's for breakfast! It's too gross and cheap for me! Let's go to Cafe Hollander!"
I groan and put my forehead on the table and feel Caden's comforting arm slip around me. Then, I hear an unfamiliar voice sternly reply, "It's either this or nothing. I'm eating here."
"Fine," Hailey whines. Ungrateful brat. She and the unfamiliar but very attractive stranger get their orders and walk our direction. Oh, come on! Out of all the empty places of the restaurant. The rest of the boys notice too, and try to fold me up under the table in time.
"Guys, I'm not a book! A book's spine can handle being opened and closed but mine cannot." I scowl. Caden gives up and just sprawls his body over my partially folded body, covering me from an outsider's view. And of course, this mystery guy knows Caden.
"Caden? Hey dude, long time no see!" he says, stopping at our booth. Hailey, although she hates me, was swooning over my hot, popular friends.
"Oh, hey Adrien!" he replies. Hmm, so that's his name.
Sounding confused, Adrien asks, "What's with the position?". Before Caden can answer, he leans over and tries to see what he's hiding. "Is that... a whole ass girl?", he asks sounding more confused than ever.
"Better than a half ass girl," Caden awkwardly laughs. Silence. Now Hailey leans over to look. She gasps.
"Is that... Avery Holmberg?", she laughs. "How much did you have to pay these boys to force them to hang out with you this time?".
I slowly emerge from halfway under the table and chew on my lip. Before I can answer, I can see Charlie gritting his teeth. Although the quietest of us, his temper can be bad. I rest my hand gently on him to try to calm him but he bursts out with, "None. How much of your prostitute money did you have to pay to Adrien to go out with him? Actually, you don't need to get money from prostitution because you'd gladly open your legs to anyone without a fee."
That causes a few "Ooh"'s to erupt in the room. He leans over to me and whispers in my ear, "It had to be said.". I laugh and nod in agreement. We take a second before turning to see Hailey's reaction. She was a fuming and stuttering mess. She storms away, dragging Adrien along with her. He salutes to the boys and winks at me. Kinda gross.
A few moments of silence pass. "Can we finish our food somewhere else?" I quietly say. Everybody nods and we're out of there in the blink of an eye. By that I meant let's go to Caden's house and do the stupid crap we always end up doing.
As we gather up in the car, and being the writer I am, I pull up the notes app on my phone and make a list.
Sucky Things Happening Right Now:
- "My" Instagram account
- Body not ready for track or soccer
- New kid in town that is Hailey's boyfriend will probably be one of the many others that hate me
- School starts tomorrow
Wait. School starts tomorrow.
Please comment if you'd like me to continue! I'm not sure if this story is worth continuing or not. Thanks.
