Sophomore Year

~Jada's POV~
I roll over and turn off the alarm then I hear my mom bust in my room. I already knew what she was asking. "Jada can you watch Shun and Will after school". I knew it she does this every time I have something planned! It was becoming more frequently now that her and her baby daddy, boyfriend, or whatever the hell you wanted to call him. To me he ain't nothing but a no good broke drug dealer honestly. I sit up and rub the crust out of my eyes and begin the argument that'll last all week "Mom why do I have to watch them? You know how important today is there is only 3 days til the homecoming dance I have to help decorate! " She looks at me like a deer at headlights "Jada B Lewis what the hell? So that goddamn dance is more important than eating? Don't stick your hand out and ask me for shit! You can't even watch them while I work that's ridiculous! Either you start picking up the slack as the babysitter or you get you a job and help pay some of these bills". I begin to overweigh my options and the more I thought about it the angrier I had gotten because she had never made Derek ( her boyfriend) pay any bills! By the time I zoned back in to reality she had left out the room and I looked over at my alarm clock that read 6:55. I got up and sighed "Today is already giving me a hard time" I begin to get ready for school I did my hygiene, styled my freshly done box braids, and got dressed in some cute Victoria Secret Pink leggings and matching top and slides. Yeah today was a lazy day. Once I was finished I grabbed my bag from behind the living room door and shouted to my mom that I loved her and I wouldn't see her after school because I'd be looking for a job! Every time I left the house no matter what, I'd always tell my mom I love her because you never know when anyone will leave this Earth and you don't want to leave a bad memory of an argument of any sort. I walk outside to see my best friend from pre-school Nicole Taylor in her 08' Silver Mustang. I quickly got in the car and I noticed she was staring hard at her phone. She glanced up and said "girrlll why is Amy and Sky going back and forth over Jr no good ass on Facebook" look , she showed me her phone they had 68 comments with Lamar denying both of they asses. I shook my head and laughed. We started our way to school and I began to tell her about me and my moms argument from earlier that morning.
Jada: Do you know any places that's hiring?
Nicole: Yess girl I was going to Rue 21 later for my interview they are still hiring and if not then we could check American Eagle
Jada: Well bet I'm gone ride with you because I'm so sick of having to depend on mama for everything!
Nicole : Girl i know right! Aunt Keisha ass be tripping too man.
We both opened our doors by now we were at school we hugged and parted ways. We were never early enough for breakfast so I proceeded to my 1st period. I walked in and noticed Lamar and his crew sitting close to my desk so I tried my best to maneuver my way around them. I accidentally bumped into Trey, I ain't gone lie he was a cute chocolate guy,  he was about 5'11, nice pearly white teeth, and waves. But that was Nicole's man so I didn't see him that way. Trey looked at me and I already knew what was coming so I pulled out my Rose Gold iPhone 6 Plus as Trey made his way to my desk. "Why you won't fuck with my mans bro?" I shook my head "Trey we've been through this a million times Lamar is a hoe he had Amy and Sky fighting over him this morning. I'm not dealing with that. You need to worry about what you're buying my bestie for her birthday!" Trey rolled his eyes and shook his head. This was our daily routine seems like, "Man how the hell you see that if yo corny ass barely get on social media and man I'm finna put you on fuck what you talm bout". Soon as he said that Mrs.Walker walked in and gave him a glare he sat down and she started her lecture over World History. I had zoned out because I had all my credits to be considered a senior. I don't play when it comes to school so I'm good. I maintain a 4.0 gpa , All A's, and in almost every school group there is. I could graduate early but nah I'm only 16 I'd be bored at home while everyone's at school. But anyways it was time to do our work I was a teachers aid in this class and 4 other classes so I pulled out my phone to watch Netflix until someone needed my help. As soon as I untangled my headphones Lamar walks up and asks me for help. He pulled his chair up as I put my glasses on. Lamar sat down and was just staring at me. I cleared my throat and asked him what he needed . "You" was all he said. I laughed "Let's be real dude and get on this work." "No Jada I'm serious man I been trying since school started can I at least have your number "?? I smacked my forehead "No you just like every other guy, have females argue over you , take virginity and leave, like no I'm not allowing you to hurt me and I'm not arguing with no female over you either. You got all these girls slobbing over you" "Man Jada you bugging bro you ain't never had a boyfriend just give me a chance take things slow, we can just text and if you don't like it I won't bother you anymore" I sigh " if I give you my number will you leave me alone please?" If only you promise to text back!" "Omg Lamar yes I promise Now MOVE!!" Lame held out his pinky I linked mines with his and I wrote my number on his binder and with that he walked off. The bell rang and I gathered my back pack and walked out of class but not without getting mean mugged and brushed up against by Natasha ass. See that's exactly why I don't wanna mess with Lamar it comes with too much drama. Natasha was his girlfriend at one point until she got pregnant and turns out it wasn't his. So she's mad at the whole world instead of herself when he doesn't even want her. I rolled my eyes and flipped my hair because I'm going to remain unbothered by her and her stanky ass crew. I went to the vending machine and got me some Hot Cheeto Puffs then went to Mr. Leno's online class in the library. I pulled out my phone and started my music up and started on my work. Walking into lunch was normal as usual I looked at my phone and a random number texted a winking emoji. I was confused so I brushed it off and sat at my normal seat by Nicole who was accompanied by Treys ass. I had ordered my a dominos CBR sandwich so I was waiting for it to arrive. I looked up to see Lamar holding my box I shook my head and handed him my money he shook his head and declined. "Why you ain't text me back?" I looked at him then put two and two together " I didn't know it was you my bad. But look at your bitch" He turned around and saw Natasha sending him the death glare shaking his head he turned around and said "Dont say that dumb ass bullshit chill out" . I was surprised that he yelled at me. Trey and Nicole were too busy having their own argument to notice us. I looked down at my phone sorta embarrassed he picked my face up with his finger " I'm sorry to holler at you man, I just can't stand her. Rs I am truly sorry. I gave him a small smile and nodded while eating my sandwich. The day had come to an end and we were on our way to Rue 21 when Lamar texted me

I laughed and locked my phone Nicole started looking at me funny "What Nicole"? "Well Jay did you forget to mention something to me?" All I did was give him my number it's nothing serious at all! She shook her head " I can't believe you weren't gonna tell me , me and Trey have been trying to get you to talk to him for so long!" "Thanks Nicole I'm sorry I promise I'll tell you anything else if it happens" "Mhmm okay Jay." She parked the car and we walked inside the mall Rue 21 was Nicole's first stop but mines was American Eagle I wish Nicole good luck on her interview and made my way to my destination. I walked up to whom I suspected worked there and asked how did I go about applying for a job. "Girl today you done got lucky someone just quit and the manager is pissed she has to come in and cover for her so maybe you can talk to her and start working soon." She pointed in the direction of a white lady who seemed to be about mid 30's with blonde hair and brown streaks, she had a banging ass body. I walked up to her and introduced myself "Hi, my name is Jada and I came to inquire about a job." She looked me up and down and smiled "How old are you"? "I just turned 16 in November." Her next question got me a tad bit happy, "Well when can you start working"? "I can start tomorrow but if you really need the help then I can stay today". " Well Jada you are hired because we are very short handed and we need the help when you return to work Monday at 4:30, just bring this application. We don't have a specific dress code but just dress casual and clean." I smiled and nodded my head as I processed everything I smiled with joy and thanked her for everything! I officially had a job I didn't have to depend on mom anymore I was hella happy. Today wasn't so bad after all, let's see how this weekend goes before my first official work day.
