" stay away! you're a walking germ donna jo! "

[third grade flashback—1977!]

donna jo or dj lewis was partner reading with one of her new best friends, eddie kaspbrak.

it was december, one of eddies least favorite months, it wasn't the cold that got him.

it was the cold(s). eddie has been a germaphobe since what seems like birth.

and colds? he's never had one. but he can tell that they seem pretty gross, the sneezing the coughing the high temperatures the bacteria that spreads—ew!

and little did he know, that he chose a partner with an upcoming cold.

donna jo and her sister both were starting out with the first stage of a cold and because it wasn't mild she still had to attend school.

everybody in mrs.griswolds class knew that eddie wouldn't deal with your bullshit cold and everybody with any sickness stayed away.

the two 9 year olds partnered up to read their class book.

the two were taking turns reading paragraphs.

" "no!" jimmy protested" eddie read.

it was djs line to read next. "why don't you under—under—"

the girls silence caugh eddies attention.

he looked up at her, and she was making a face of absolute terror. the sneeze face.

"urm dj, please don't!" eddie shrieks.

it all went in slo motion. the girl sneezed, it was a wet sneeze.

and poor edward didn't pull his book up infront of his face in time.

and let's just say, her snot, went, everywhere.

the class actually stopped what they were doing and turned to the scene.

eddie screaming and quickly stood up, with snot covering his face. "DJ!!!"

"eddie let me help you!" dj stands up.

she grabs on to his arm and yanks it away.

"no! no no no! stay away! you're a walking germ donna jo!" the small boy ran into the backpack closet and scrubs his face with water and soap.

he comes out and begs mrs griswold to call his mother, so he could go home and make sure he doesn't catch a cold.

once eddies mom arrived dj tried to apologize.

"eddie i'm so sorry—"

"no! eddie is done with you done" mrs kaspbrak yells.

"here are some tissues, you may want to use them" the mean woman sasses before dragging her son out of the classroom.

and that was the last time donna jo ever spoke to eddie kaspbrak.

[ back to reality!]

"cmon ed's seriously? you've been holding a grudge with dj since third grade?" stan asks.

"uhm yes. she literally sneezed on me and gave me the flu! the fucking flu stanley!" eddie yells.

"b-but that was in th-third grade and sh-she d-did apologize" bill adds.

"whose side are you on?" eddie asks bill.

"i'm j-just s-saying" he raises his hands in defense.

eddie was thinking about dj that day. should he really forgive her?

no. he didn't want to, but he kinda did, just to get it over with.
