Eyes followed him down the halls as he walked by slowly, trying to cover up his black eye. Although not doing much coverage because it was straight on his face, prominent for everyone to see.
Everyday there was a new bruise somewhere on his body. You'd think that by now they would have noticed something's up, and they did. They just didn't care.
For years now it was a regular routine. It was either he came to school with bruises, or he just didn't come to school at all. The staff at his high school took notice to this, but even when asking him if anything was wrong, he'd always reply with 'I just tripped, it's not a big deal'.
And they couldn't do anything about it, the policy of their school district prohibited them from any type of action, the student themselves had to openly admit to being part of some sort of abuse. Wether it be bullying, abuse, or any type of sex scandal and more.
Whispers were heard while he walked by. Mostly those of pity for the small boy, but some scoffing and saying that it was only for the attention.
But they were wrong.
Taehyung didn't want the attention, not in the slightest. But when you have a big blu'ish-black bullseye right smack on your face, it's kinda hard not to draw people's stares.
He sighed as he clenched onto his bag tighter, somehow hoping that if he pulled it close enough it would swallow him hole.
He reached his classroom shortly after. He opened the door, and of course it was empty as usual. Nobody would be in the class till the bell rang, so he had some alone time before having to deal with his in life hell.
A noise of the door opening made Taehyung turn his head. "Hey Tae, back here as usual?" His teacher asked with a big smile.
"Yeah, pretty much." He replied.
"Why don't you ever go hang out with your friends?" His teacher asked crossing his arms leaning in the doorway.
"I don't have friends Mr. Kim." Taehyung replies boredly turning his head away from the doorway.
Mr. Kim's smile dropped. His dimples fading away as his happiness that day was taken away by Taehyung's words.
He felt bad for the boy. He knew that he wasn't living the best life at home, his IQ was 140 after all. He wasn't dumb, he could see the obvious right in from of him. The bruises, the depressed expressions, not coming to school. It was all there, the signs that triggered his warning signals that something was up.
"Don't feel bad though, it's better this way." Taehyung reassured giving a fake smile.
He didn't like it when people pitied him, it mad him angry. Why would they want to pity him, but never actually want to help him physically?
"O-okay, I see." He continued, the atmosphere was becoming awkward. "Well, if you need anything then just come and ask me."
It wasn't hard to tell that Mr. Kim felt uncomfortable now. He really didn't know what to say back.
"Thanks." Taehyung replied.
And of course the day was off to a great start.
