The Artifact

Prologue

Dust covered the land, too thick to see anything a foot in front of you, the heat was unbarable, but thanks to the cloud of dust it was cooler, but not by much.

Our travels brought us to many interesting places, and brought many complications, but it sometimes brought new companions as well, so it had good and bad sides, but the pros far outweighed the cons, even on the simplest of journeys.

It had been a long while since I last saw civilization, at least one with any population. Few people wanted to live with weather I like this, myself included, but it did make for an interesting trek, despite it's awful heat and lack of visibility. We had been going on for some time before we finally reached a city, in the middle of nowhere. I wasn't completely sure where we were, I didn't fully agree to this adventure, but I was dragged on it none the less.

My name is Nicholas Nightingale, but most people know by Night, and I'm an adventurer. My team and I, you'll meet them later, take on "Quests" that most people wouldn't, so maybe you would call me a mercenary, or a specialist, but I like adventurer, it sounds more rustic and heroic. Anyways, we are are looking for our contract before we can know what we are hunting. While we make our way to the rendezvous point I'll introduce you to my team and tell you a bit about myself when I'm all done, then we'll continue, sound good to you? Perfect!
