To Kitsune, it felt wrong leaving Tokoyami behind. She spent a lot of time with him, and now every moment they were apart it felt... wrong.
She took a sip of her soda as Ravan shielded her from the crowd with his wings.
Under the shelter of his wings, he smiled at her, tipping her chin upward with his finger.
"You really do look stunning, Kitty", he said quietly.
"Thank you Rav", she said in between sips.
They swayed along to the now slow music.
Ravan's eyebrows furrowed.
"What's wrong?", Kitsune asked him.
He looked at her, the light in his green eyes softening.
"Can I tell you something?"
"Anything, Ravan, we're best friends."
He winced. "About that..."
Oh dear.
What's going on?
Kitsune's heart started pounding.
"What?"
Ravan reached up and gently stroked her cheek with his thumb.
"Kitsune... I like you."
"I like you too."
"No, not like that like. I mean I like you."
It took a few seconds before it clicked in her head. Her eyes widened in disbelief.
"What?!"
Ravan sighed.
"I like you. You're my best friend of many years, and hopefully many years more..."
He looked her in the eyes.
"But I see you as more than my best friend too."
Kitsune looked down. She didn't know what to say.
"Ravan, I-I don't know how to feel", she admitted.
Her heart nearly stopped when he pressed his lips against hers.
"I'll give you time to think, okay Kitty?"
With that, he released her from his winged embrace and slipped into the crowd.
Leaving Kitsune alone and conflicted.
She decided to take the bus home early.
