World's Apart (an Adventure Time fan-fic)

Chapter 2

Finn's P.O.V:

I sat at the kitchen window and stared outside, stomach grumbling as Jake made us our everything burritos for breakfast. There hasn't any adventuring to do in like, five days and i was determined to spot it when it came knocking at our doorstep. It was like we had wiped the land of Ooo clean of evil and it was too afraid to come out and face our mathematical strength again. Most people would say this is a good thing but without adventuring, i don't know what i would do.

Wait, what was that outside? I squinted to see a bright flash of light appear in the distance and then dissapear in a second. "Hey, Jake... did you see that flash of light outside?"

"I don't have time for your made up adventures right now. I don't want to burn the food." He said with his back turned to me and the window.

"I'm not making this up, dude. Now there's something falling from the sky... no wait, some one is falling from the sky!" I jumped out of my seat and pulled at Jake's arm.

"Finn, stop it!"

"I'm serious. I can hear her screaming for help!" I let go of his arm and rushed to the window again to open it.

"Finn, sit down. Breakfast is ready." He said, annoyance showing in his voice.

Whatever, if Jake wont help me, i'll save this guy myself. I jumped out the window and landed roughly a few stories below, shattered glass falling all around me as i did. Maybe i should have opened the window first...

"Finn, get back here!'' I could hear Jake shouting for me as i ran towards the place where i saw the beam of light. I ignored him and only ran faster.

By now, i was only about fifty yards away and i could see the person's face better. It was a girl! An actual human girl. Her fire red hair tied back in a cute pony tail made me think that she might be flame princess at first but then i realized that she was much more beautiful than fire elemental i had ever seen. Just by the look in her pretty green eyes and frantic screams for help motivated me to move faster, ignoring the fact that my legs ached in pain.

I was now only a few feet away as i jumped into the air and caught her in my arms. We landed in the grass a few feet away with a thud, the girl on top of me unharmed and squeezing me tight. "Oh thank goodness! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!"

She rolled off of me reluctantly and looked into my eyes. "My name is Piper by the way."

Piper pulled me up off the ground and smiled. I just stared at her dumbfounded. "You're a human..."

"Yeah i am. Is that a problem?" Piper raised an eyebrow at me, questioningly.

"No, not at all! ...It's just... uh, i thought that i was the last human. Oh, and my name is--"

"I know who you are, you're Finn the human. You're famous where i come from." She said, jumping with delight.

"There are more of you?! Where do you come from?" i asked, now excited to learn more.

"I can't tell you. If i did... it would be way too confusing for you to understand." Piper stared down at her sneakers, trying avoiding my eyes. It was like she was afraid to disappoint me or something.

"I understand. Hey, you're bleeding. I'll patch you up back at the tree fort." I grabbed her hand, causing her to blush a little bit.

Piper's P.O.V:

I winced in pain as Jake put in the last stitches on my cut in the bedroom while Finn held my hand through the process, trying to explain to him what had happened after he burst out the window to save me. He also added every bit of little information i told him about myself. Jake just sat there and nodded every now and then at Finn's comments and stuff, mostly focusing on me and my cut.

"Hey, Piper. Do you wanna stay with us tonight or until you find a way to get back to where you came from? Unless you don't want to. We could have a lot of fun. You and me could play BMO or we could go adventuring or do whatever and just hang out." Finn asked hopefully.

"I would love to, Finn. I mean, only if Jake is okay with it." I gave Jake a warm smile as he put his first aid kit away.

"Yeah, about that. Finn, i need to talk to you in the kitchen." He pulled Finn downstairs and i could swore he just gave me a look of disdain before leaving. Did Jake have a problem with me or something?
