The doorbell rang.

"Just a minute!" Jenn shouted as she quickly pulled on the nearest sweater she could find. She had just got out of the shower and had texted Alyx to come and hang out.

Jenn walked over to the door and opened it. As soon as Alyx saw Jenn a grin broke across the girls face. Her eyes dropped quickly down and she frowned.

"Is that my sweater?"

Jenn looked down and saw that it indeed was Alyx's green sweater that she in a rush had pulled on.

"Oh yeah umm I was in a rush and it was the closest thing I..."

"I'm kidding Jenn you know that half of my wardrobe is basically yours anyway" Alyx chuckled as she brushed past Jenn into the house.

"What do you want to do?" Alyx asked as she flopped down onto the couch and started unloading her backpack.

Jenn also walked over to the couch and sat on the other end.

"I've had such a stressful week that I really could do with some takeout and trashy TV."

"I mean that sounds like any other night that we spend together but I'm not complaining." Alyx laughed as she propped her feet up on the table. "What do you want to order."

"Sushi?" Jenn asked and looked at Alyx waiting for her reaction.

"Sushi? Jenn we've literally eaten sushi the the past I don't know how many times, we have to be able to come up with something else."

"Pleasee Alyx I mean it when I say I've had a stressful week" Jenn said and pulled her best puppy dog eyes and she leaned towards Alyx with a pout. She knew Alyx couldn't resist that face.

And Jenn was right. God she's cute! Alyx thought as she looked at Jenn, trying to fight back, but already knowing Jenn won this one. Why does she have this power over me.

The truth is Alyx already knew why. It had started as this little innocent crush that Alyx thought would go away, but little did she know it would evolve to what it is today: a huge unbearable crush. She knew Jenn was straight and that they were best friends and that she couldn't ruin it, but sometimes there would be this weird tension between them that held her hope up.

"Fine." Alyx said with a defeated tone and faked a frown as she looked down at her phone, but couldn't hide the little smile creeping in.

"Yes! thank you so much" Jenn cheered as she jumped to hug Alyx, who pretended to be mad. "I knew you couldn't resist these eyes" Jenn said as she batted her eyelashes at Alyx.

"Oh mark my words, next time we are NOT ordering sushi. I'm making sure of that".

"Oh we'll see about that"

Alyx shook her head as she made the order and she and Jenn started to scroll through shows that they could watch.

"You got any suggestions?" Alyx asked

"something that you can watch without concentrating"

Alyx turned her head towards Jenn and lifted her eyebrows "you really are tired aren't you" Alyx chuckled as she took in Jenn's bored expression.

Jenn pushed Alyx's shoulder playfully and looked back at the screen.

"Let's watch some old bachelor"

"Well i mean I can't say my opinion about the matter since you've had such a loooong and stressful week and y..." Alyx said as she looked at Jenn from the corner of her eye, waiting for a reaction.

"Omg your such a dick" Jenn laughed and hit Alyx's arm one more time.

The sushi arrived and they hit play on a random season of the bachelor. They ate and laughed while commenting on the show, but fell quiet pretty quickly since both girls were tired from the past weeks hard work. Jenn had at some point laid her head in Alyx's lap, which first made Alyx freeze, but after collecting herself she started to idly run her finger through Jenn's soft blonde hair.

Jenn eyes started to close from the feeling of Alyx's fingers slowly running through her hair. It felt so good. A little too good. Jenn you have to pull yourself together. She told herself. Jenn had had these feelings for a while now. Their friendship had always been playful. That was no surprise, even to their friends. It's just that lately the tension had seemed to grow and Jenn didn't know how to handle it anymore. Just looking at Alyx was enough to give Jenn butterflies.

Jenn broke out of her thought bubble when she noticed Alyx calling her name.

"Jenn? Jenn! are you there?"

"huh?" Jenn jumped, a bit drowsy from having kept her eyes closed for a while.

"I asked if you wanted the last piece of sushi but what I really think you need is a good night's sleep" Alyx chuckled while looking fondly down at Jenn.

"Yeah, I uh, I zoned out a little " Jenn stammered as she slowly lifted herself up and went to go get water from the kitchen.

"Do you by the way know what time it is?" Jenn asked from the kitchen

Alyx looked at her phone "A little past 12, do you think I could stay over? I mean I can of course drive home I just thought you know if that would be okay bec...."

"Calm down, of course you can stay, you're always welcome to stay" Jenn said warmly while walking back to the couch.

"I know It's just that lately I've been sleeping here more than I've been sleeping at home, and you know, sometimes people want to be alone and not have an Alyx sleeping in their house every night" Alyx grinned.

"I really don't mind you sleeping here. I actually kinda like it." Jenn smiled sincerely.

Alyx smiled at Jenn. They stared at each other for a few seconds before Alyx's eyes dropped down to Jenn's lips. Only then did they notice how close they were sitting. The room got suddenly very hot and Jenn licked her lips. That brought Alyx back to her senses and she quickly averted her gaze.

"I uhh I s-should go and see I mean I'm also gonna go get some water." Alyx rambled as she got up from the couch and headed towards the kitchen. A blush had started to creep up on Alyx's cheeks.

"Yeah i'm also gonna start cleaning these up" Jenn said, also a little flustered as she started to clean up the sushi wrappers.

What just happened, Jenn thought. Jenn had immediately noticed Alyx's gaze drop and the tingly feeling she had gotten from it. She didn't want to admit it, but she really had thought of kissing Alyx in that moment. Jenn got up to carry the leftover sushi to the fridge. There was still a slight tension floating in the room. Alyx was still facing the sink filling her a glass of water.

What was I thinking, Alyx thought. I really have to get a grip on these feelings or else i'm going to ruin everything. Jenn didn't look completely disgusted though, Alyx thought. In fact, she did lick her lips, but that could mean anything. The weather had been very dry lately so she could've just had dry lips or..

Alyx's train of thought cut short when she felt a hand on her shoulder. It made her jump slightly and she turned to find Jenn smiling at her.

"are you okay?"

"Oh yeah I'm just.. I've also had a stressful week" that's half the truth at least Alyx thought as she lied.

"Let's head to the bedroom shall we?" Jenn smiled and took Alyx's hand and dragged her after her.

In that moment the phrase sounded so dirty to Alyx she couldn't stop her mind from going to weird places. She took a deep breath and forced a smile upon her smile.

"Yeah that sounds good"
