Louis’ POV:

“TAXI!” I yelled, waving one arm frantically, holding a newspaper in the other, covering my head from the rain. “Take me to the nearest store.” I order as he nods and hits the gas. I hand him a small wad of cash and slide out, buying a cheap but good umbrella. I trudged down the sidewalk, my feet sloshing in every puddle. Figuring what to do next, I look around. Then my eyes catch something.

A girl about a hundred feet at least in front of me was slipping with almost every step, trying to walk in heels. One broke in half as she stumbled and just decided to sit on the sidewalk in the pouring rain. I chuckled at her and she buried her head in her hands, throwing her hair up in a ponytail and I sprinted to catch up to her, trying hard to not slip and fall.

Hannah’s POV:

I thought it would be fun to surprise my boyfriend Lucas to a dance. It was our six month anniversary. I slipped on some heels and a nice autumn dress, and my friend Ashley dropped me off. My car had to be put in the shop. I knew Lucas would offer to drive, he liked it too much. He was home. I knocked on his door as he called out, “Be right there!” I stood patiently waiting. Lucas finally came to the door, and his goofy grin almost immediately swept off his face. “Oh, hey Hannah.” he said and I grabbed his hand. “C’mon Luke! Let’s go to a dance. Nice dinner and everything. It’s all on me.” I said, heading to the driveway, but he stood at the door, frozen.

“Everything okay, babe?” I asked. “Um, why didn’t you call before coming over?” he asked.

“I thought I’d make it a surprise..” I trailed off, becoming concerned. “Oh,” was the only thing that escaped his mouth before I saw a hand grab his biceps. It looked like a girl’s hand. I leaned over to see who it was. Some random chick with short blonde hair, holding a glass of wine. I didn’t even have to ask. I knew what this was. She wasn’t family, and they didn’t quite look like friends. My mouth dropped, as did his, searching for words. For an excuse. Unexpectedly, I slapped him across the face. Hard, much harder than I thought. My eyes widened as I realized what I had just done. I turned and started for the road. He called my name repeatedly, trying to apologize.

“Don’t waste your breath, babe.” I muttered loud enough for him to hear, never looking back. Holding back tears, I decided to just stay on foot. I didn’t want to be a bother to Ashley. I kept walking until I got around the shopping center, blisters forming on the sides of my feet and it started to pour. I don’t care. I don’t even have money for a taxi. As it rained even more, I slipped a little. Stupid heels. And just when I thought things couldn’t get much worse, my left one broke and I rolled on my ankle. Screw it. I wrapped my hair up in a pony and plopped on the sidewalk. And that’s when I started to cry. How could someone be so cold hearted? I stared at the concrete, listening to people and cars pass. I sniffled, and next thing I know I hear someone breathing a bit heavy and it sounded like they were standing in front of me.

“Ello, love.” he says. Was he…British? Why was he in America? Much less Texas? “What seems to be the matter? Such a pretty girl like you shouldn’t be crying.”

“I caught my boyfriend, well now my ex, cheating on me..” I answered, trying to rub my cheeks and under my eyes, knowing there was probably mascara smeared all over my face. He stuck out a hand to help me up and I take his offer. “Don’t let some stupid lying boy make you cry. He doesn’t know what he’s missing out on.” he said and looked at me and grinned, sharing his umbrella with me as I limped some with a swollen ankle.

“You okay?” he asked. I nodded. “No you’re not.” he said and paused to take off his shoes. “Here, you can wear these.” he said standing in the rain in his socks. I shook my head. Unfortunately, he forced me to put on his sneakers, but I ended up being thankful for it. “Thanks.” I smiled as my feet were screaming with relaxation. “No worries.” he chirped as he carried my heels. He stared at me and smiled and when I looked back at him, my breath hitched. I knew those baby blues anywhere.

I was talking to Louis Tomlinson.
