"Ah Dr. Phillips, this is Alexander Hills, the man i was telling you about." My boss led the conversation. " He's the one that scored the highest in your test that you made.
I reached out my hand, " Pleasure to meet you Dr. Phillips."
The man quickly pulled my arm in. "No the pleasure is mine Mr. Hills! I'm greatly satisfied with how well you did my test. I didn't expect a simple commoner in your class of society to complete it the way you did. Please, tell me how you did?"
I stood there irritated with his comment and can tell he wasn't getting the vibe that I was offended. I pulled my hand back and turned to my boss and said "Sir I'm sure you know I have lots of work to do, is it alright if I'm dismissed.'
"Mr. Hills, Dr. Phillips took time out of his schedule to come all of the way here to see you and you're showing disrespect by..."
"No No, It's fine. I'm sure I was the one who offended him by saying what I did. I'm sorry, but you see, (he turned toward me) Mr. Hill the test was not to be completed 100%... Only you were able to do this." He smiled and pulled a piece of paper out his silver metal suitcase with a pen. Pushing them toward me, he said "Mr. Hills i have a proposition for you. I'll be sending a team of a selected few with certain.. traits. I believe you're special and I need you for this mission. If you're worried about your family, then there's nothing to worry about. We've already started preparing a place for them to stay until you've come back. Best part is if the mission goes to plan, you won't have to worry about your two children living in that lower part of society. They'll be placed in the best schools offered and guaranteed a better life. In order for that to happen, I need you to sign this contract. All it says is that you"ll be going on this trip voluntarily. So what do you say?"
I stared at the piece of paper and read it through. Everything he said matched up with it and i said, "I'll need time to think about it."
"I'm sorry, but that won't work Mr. Hill." Dr. Phillips walked around the table to the windows. He stood still looking at the sky and calmly said, "There is no time to wait. The mission has already started to move and now is the only time to get in it. If you leave out that door without signing that paper, then you'll be stuck in the low class of society. Not to forget that your kids won't ever be able to advance in life." He turned around and leered at me. "You'll be ruining your family blood line until the end of their time... which won't last long by the look of it."
*Gulp* I looked back at the paper and thought of my family. He was right, I can't let my kids live this horrible life for when they grow up. I grabbed the pen and held it about the signature line. I started to tremble and pictured my family together. I recooped myself and signed my name. I put the pen down and asked him what i should do now.
"Very well! Well done Mr. Hill! I'm glad your part of the team. You don't have to worry about your things. I already have people getting your stuff ready. If you want to meet with your family fine, but you must be at the roof of this building at 8PM tonight. We'll fly you to the next destination where you'll be givin information on what your role is for the mission. I'll see you tonight."
"Alright, thank you Dr. Phillips. I'll take my leave now then." I shook both of their hands and left stright home. I couldn't believe this was happening.
