"Do you have to go?" I whined questioningly as I curled closer into Sweet Pea's side.
"Yes babe, I have to go," he chuckled at my childlike behavior and pulled me closer, "FP's orders". I sighed heavily at his response and allowed myself to sink deeper into the worn leather couch that the two of us were currently seated in. It was approaching five o'clock, meaning that both of us had to leave soon; I had to go to work, and Sweets had to run some 'errands' for the Serpents.
I had no motivation to move, however. It was Saturday, so Sweet Pea and I took it upon ourselves to have a well deserved, laidback day. We watched movies, ate food, and relaxed... Well, tried to relax. I couldn't help but have heavy feelings of nervousness ever since Sweet Pea told me about Malachai and the other Ghoulies; whenever he went out late or didn't text me back right away, my stomach would sink as I thought of the worst.
"We should probably get going soon," Sweet Pea said, bringing me out of my thoughts as he stood up from the couch. "I told Fangs that I'd meet him at the Wyrm, so I can drop you off at work and pick you up later tonight".
"What if neither of us went though," I suggested, giving him my sweetest smile in another attempt to keep him here.
"Then we would both be out a job," he replied with a smirk. "Now, come on, let's get going".
"No," I whined once again, crossing my arms over my chest to show that I wasn't moving anytime soon.
"Babe, come on," he said grabbing my hands and pulling me off of the couch despite my protests. To continue my childlike antics and my attempt to keep him here, I let my body fall completely limp to make things more difficult. "You're being ridiculous," he chuckled, easily catching my dead weight and lifting me back up.
"Please, stay here with me," I begged in one final plea, looking up at him with sad eyes. His expression quickly changed from cheerful to worried as he furrowed his brow and looked down at me.
"Asher, baby, what's wrong?" he asked, cupping my cheek in his large hand. I took a deep breath in an attempt to hold back the tears that were threatening to pour from my eyes as I looked up at the boy I loved.
"I just don't want you to get hurt," I sighed, and Sweet Pea's worried features relaxed as I revealed my concerns to him.
"Ash, everything is going to be fine," he hummed, pulling me into a warm embrace. I held onto him tightly, taking another deep breath to inhale his sent; the smell of cheap cologne and cigarettes had become reassuring to me, and I didn't want to let it go. Sweet Pea, however, pulled away, placed his hands on my shoulders, and bent down so he could look into my eyes. "I promise, you have nothing to worry about. Fangs will be with me, and we have each other's backs".
"I know that," I sighed, "but what if something goes wrong?" Sweet pea chuckled lightly and sighed as he looked at me. He then leaned in slowly, placing a gentle and passionate kiss on my lips.
"Everything will be okay," he whispered as he rested his forehead on mine.
"I love you," I whispered back.
"I love you, too," he replied, standing back up to his full height and grabbing my hand as he lead me to the door. "Now, let's go. You're going to be late for work".

It was quickly approaching midnight, and things were finally beginning to slow down at the Whyte Wyrm. Toni was cut first, and Sally, the other waitress, was cut after her, so I was left to help Hog Eye clean up and close the bar. There were a few stragglers still in the bar, and they would most likely be here for another hour, so I kept myself busy with wiping down the tables and the bar top until they left.
