Daniel watched curiously on. Something stirred for a second. Something that made him tic.
His fingers twitched around the pencil he was holding. 'Man' he thought. Daniel forced his gaze away and in turn decided to actually focus on what the teacher was saying.
'This is crazy!' a faint blush rose to his cheeks as he thought about the way the silky brown hair fell in front of those gorgeous big dark chocolate colored eyes. Daniel smiled slightly, but then quickly shook himself out of it when hearing the teacher speak.
"Alright everyone partner up, and then i'll explain the next portion of the assignment for the next couple of days." Daniel perked up at the mentions of partners and then quickly pushed down the feelings. He looked around the classroom, and found one of his friends to work with instead.

After the teacher finished explaining what they should do, which was to write up a simple short story based around a science experiment, everybody got to work... well mostly everybody. Daniel couldn't focus.
"Hey Danny?" Daniel jumped slightly, as he was in a daze, and stared at his friend who look annoyed.
"Yeah?" Daniel smiled shyly and put a hand on the back of his neck. his friend, Madaline sighed, shaking her head.
"Does this look okay? So far i mean?"
Daniel peered at the paper and read over it. He smiled. She had started writing about a love experiment gone wrong. It was actually really good.
"So? Is it good?" Daniel nodded.
"Yeah, it's good so far, just how about changing the character arc a little bit? Make the main character a little bit more dark and deranged." Madaline nodded excitedly.
"Yeah! Awesome idea!" Daniel nodded, and dazed in and out of space for the rest of the class period.

Daniel was jumping up and down with joy when lunch came around. Lunch was a highlight in his school day since he had gotten a lunch period with all of his friends.
He sat down at the table, being the first one to arrive at their sitting space, gave him some time to think about what happened in his English class. He never would have spaced out like that normally. There was only one explanation...
Daniel was going through a midlife crisis, or he was dying. Either one worked.
Daniel was too busy debating his life choices to notice his friends taking a seat at their table.
"Danny?"
"Dannyyyy?"
"Daniel!"
He jumped at the sudden loud noise. All of Daniel's friends were looking at him weird.
"Are you okay?" That was Madaline again.
"Yeah," Daniel replied, "I think I'm just not feeling well is all." Everyone sighed in relief, knowing nothing too serious was going on. It was actually quite normal for Daniel to space out when he wasn't feeling good.
After that lunch went on as it normally did, with Jaiden going on quite loudly about his "horrible" music theory class, Forrest was stressing over school work she procrastinated on, and Daniel pitched in every now and again about the topic of conversation.
Eventually the lunch bell rang, and Daniel's friends all departed for their next class. Daniel however really wasn't feeling up to going to his next class. He hid out in the bathroom, and texted his mom to come pick him up.
At least being in his own space would allow him to sort through the new ache in his chest. He hoped that this was something he would be able to sort out tonight. After all Daniel had homework to do.
