Dinner was great. Tara and Christopher kept looking at each other, both of them smiling stupidly. I sincerely hope for my sake that they don't date. I really don't want a rude girl for Chris. He can be really annoying most times but, not a girl like Tara for him.
I had texted Leo before dinner that I wasn't going to make it so he shouldn't bother coming. Tara and I washed the plates and clean the kitchen after dinner. Trust me, it was annoying. She didn't even say a word. Nonsense.
Right now, we are all watching a movie, except my dad and Dr Dele. They are outside, talking. I wonder if the Adetibas are not leaving our place again. It is almost 9pm. They should leave soon. Dad said it earlier that they live in Ibadan. So, I am sure they have made arrangements to lodge in a hotel. Or were they planning to sleep here?
I decide to ask Tayo to be sure my suspicions are not true. I move closer to the chair he is sitting on.
"Hey Tayo" I rest my hands on the chair he is sitting on.
"Bella, yeah?" he answers, smiling.
"Are you guys spending the night here?" I ask in a whisper but loud enough for others to hear me.
"Yeah. Your mum told my mum we could spend the night here instead of lodging in a hotel" he replies in a whisper too.
I frown a little before giving my usual fake smile.
"Oh, so you brought your things along, yeah?"
"yeah, we left them in the car." he says, a little louder than the whisper.
"Bella, don't you want us to sleep here?" Mrs Adetiba says jokingly.
So she has been listening to us.
"No no ma" I say, laughing a little. She laughs too and I notice her dimples.
"I forgot to tell you and your brothers that they will be sleeping over. I already cleaned the two guest rooms. Tayo can sleep in your brothers' rooms. Tara can sleep in your room or in the guest room if she doesn't want to." my mum says, joining the conversation.
"Tara should sleep in her room. They will get to know each other better" Mrs Adetiba says, smiling and winking at me while I frown.
What??
My mum laughs. "That's true."my mum says, flashing me a smile. I am sure she figured I don't like Tara. "Well, if they are both okay with it. You know these teenage girls" my mum says to Mrs Adetiba .
"Of course I am" I feign my smile.
"Tara? You?" Mrs Adetiba shoots her a look.
"Yeah, it's fine" she replies bluntly and turns back to the movie.
"Well, that settles it" mum sighs and I roll my eyes and leave for my room.
I unlock my phone and pull down the notifications bar. Leo had sent a message on WhatsApp.
Leo❤: Babe
Me: Hey
Leo❤: What?
Me: What?
Leo❤: C'mon Bella.
