As I regain my consciousness, I slowly opened my eyes.

Then another pair of eyes welcomed me into the morning.

“Good morning, sunshine” Luther smiled at me. I looked around and it took a while bago ko maalala kung nasaan ako at kung ano yung mga nangyari kagabi. I instinctively burried myself under the sheets, ashamed of...I don’t know, I just feel very shy.

Pero tinanggal agad yun ni Luther at tiningnan ako sa mukha. “Now that I’ve seen everything, ngayon ka pa nahiya?” tanong nya na may ngiti sa labi. Hinampas ko sya sa braso.

“Kainis ka!” hahampasin ko pa sana ulit sya pero kiniliti nya ako. I tried to stop him and tickle him instead pero mas malakas sya kesa sa akin. In the end, my loud laughter is ringing around the room. Just when I heard a faint familiar beep.

Tumayo ako agad kaya napatigil si Luther, tiningnan ko yung bedside alarm clock ko. It read 8 o’clock AM.

“Shit! Late na ko!” I quickly grabbed the sheets and covered myself to go inside the bathroom, pero hinatak yun ni Luther.

“Don’t go to work, dito na lang tayo please?”

“Hindi pwede, Luther. VIP cater namin ngayon” I tugged back at the sheets and he pouted. “Sleep here tonight too, okay?”

“Okay” ngiti nya.

Binitawan na nya yung kumot at humiga ulit. I ran for the bathroom.

Narrator’s POV

Luther entered FGC all smiles. Kung titingnan sya ng mabuti, you’d notice that he’s doing the “I just got laid” walk. Chin up, chest lifted and his shoulders swaying a bit while he walks. Pinagtitinginan naman sya ng ibang empleyado na naka-position na sa kanya-kanyang department. They know that Luther is not like that. Lagi itong seryoso at never ngumiti ng ganun sa kanila.

Ang hindi nila alam, for Luther, last night is the most wonderful thing that ever happened to him. It wasn’t like anything he had before. Alam nyang iba yung kagabi, it was Ellie. At para sa kanya, anything with Ellie in it is nothing but the best of best.

“Good morning, Todd” masigla nitong bati sa secretary nya. Instead of replying, his secretary’s eyebrows automatically shoot up. Hindi naman yun napansin ni Luther na busy sa pagngiti at pumasok na sa loob ng office nya.

Once he sat on his swivel chair, his eyes darted through the faces in the wall. Nangiti na naman sya nang maalala ang pagnood nya kay Ellie kaninang umaga na nagmamadaling gumayak dahil late na sya. It was the most amusing scene to watch, and he’s feeling like he can watch that in every morning of his life.

Todd peaked inside his office. “Sir Luther?”

Again, hindi sya napansin ng boss and Luther kept on smiling at the paintings.

“Sir Luther!” mas malakas nitong tawag sa kanya. Luther slowly turned to Todd, his smile still etched on his face.

“You’re seeing the Vice President in the ECR in five minutes, Sir” sabi ni Todd sa kanya na nakakunot ang noo.

“Alright”

Then it hit him. Kailangan nya nga pala i-present sa Daddy nya ang site plan ng itatayo nilang resort sa Ilocos. He quickly rummaged under his desk to look for the plan. Hindi nya mapigilang matawa, thinking that Ellie is not the only one cramming at this time.

“Good morning, Dad” bati nya sa tatay pagpasok nya ng ECR. He put the folder with the site plan in the table in front of his father and sat adjacent to his seat.
