Prologue

The wind rattled against the rusted iron of the roof creating a sound that peirced into young Liam's ears as he tried to drift off to sleep. He stared at the tatted sealing above as he wrapped his pillow around his ears. He jumped as he heard loud cries from outside. He ran out only to see the horrific sight of blood flowing across the ground creating a giant red puddle around the corpse. He used his leg to push the heavy body onto it's side, he knew just from the side of her face who it was it was Liam's Mother. Then he saw the wound a bullet shot straight through the head this was no accident.

Liam was distraught the thought of never seeing her again was to much to bear. That morning was the beginning of this tale Liam was out on the farm when he saw some footprints. He hadn't been in the field for days so he tracked the prints to a roof. Then it struck him this was the ideal spot for a shot at someone just outside his house. He looked around and saw a wet white object lying limply on the iron. He picked it up and opened it taking extreme care not to rip the wet material. The letters were smudged but Liam could just make them out it read. “Kill the boy!” Could this be? The person hade mistaken Liam's mother for him. As he went to bed that night he was wondering why me? What had he done? And from that day on Liam swore revenge to the man who had murdered his mother.

Chapter 1

The next morning he woke up early to the familiar sound of the roosters crow howling in his ears. He reached over to his bedside table to grab his warm eggs and OJ but was surprised to find it not there. Then it all came flooding back to him like a wave of grief sweeping over him the crying the blood the trauma and then he remembered the note. “Kill the boy.” But why, why him why had this man wanted to kill him. He slumped down the stairs and into the kitchen. He pulled the fridge open and yanked the OJ from its place on the little shelf quickly opening the lid and gulping the sweet liquid down his parched throat. He then pulled on his jacket and his hat and headed out to the foggy farm beyond.

The fog was beginning to clear as he rode across the paddock on his buggy then Liam noticed something very strange laying on the ground. It was partly covered in mud but the sun shone on it creating a beam of light streaming from where it lay. He bent over and picked it up it was a small green object but it was heavier then it looked. As he touched it he felt a sudden heat wave flow through his hand sending a tingling sensation through his body. He wasn’t at all compelled to but it down he just felt like standing there all day with it. He decided it could be of some use to him so he put it on the back of his buggy and drove quickly back to the house.

He put the green object under the light on the table examining it. He could see it was a round surfaced object with perfectly rounded edges all around it. He thought it might be an egg, but what kind off bird lays an egg as brightly coloured and perfect as this one. He decided he would leave it and come back to check on it at the end of the day when he got back. But as he was leaving the room he heard a small crack coming from the things direction and as he turned around he saw the object was cracking and breaking open revealing the green animal beneath. As the animal began to stretch he saw scales and wings. Intrigued he walked over to it revealing to his eyes for the first time what the animal truly was. The object was not a birds egg but that of a dragons.
