At last, it seemed that there was light at the end of the tunnel. It was clear that Lasse could do horrible things and that he will not stop until he destroys us. But that was the best part. If he wanted to kill us, it was because he was afraid of us, afraid that we would tell the whole truth, that we would put an end to his reign of terror, that we would show the world what he really is like.

I thought about the moment I married him, about the walks, the trips, our son, our house, our life together. How could I not see it? How could I have lived a lie? How could I have let it happen? Either way, it wasn't my fault he was a monster.

I missed my son and Brita. They were the people who had buoyed me up for years. If Lasse won, all the sacrifices we had made, including Brita and my son, would be in vain, and it was something I couldn't allow.

"The agents are inside the warehouse." Xena confirmed.

We all got up immediately and walked over to the big screen where the agents could be seen moving deftly and stealthily through the winding corridors.

"There she is! It's her!" Bergitte exclaimed.I looked at the screen.

There was Agnes. Tied hand and foot to a chair with a gag. His white tank top was covered in blood. She was sweating and screaming at the same time. My stomach knotted. I couldn't see her like this. I tried not to look away, but every second that passed made it harder for me, every movement charged with adrenaline and tension.

I could see tremendous nervousness on everyone's faces as we stared at the screen. The soldiers had already untied her and were now escorting her with perfectly calculated movements. Four of them surrounded her while the rest checked that the warehouse was still empty. A flurry of bullets made me jump and my own pulse quickened. The stress made me breathe harder.

The soldiers had found enemies. They covered Agnes while shooting at a target we couldn't see. After a few moments, the shooting stopped and they continued walking. They finally left the warehouse and ran to the beach where a boat was waiting for them. They got on it and left the island.

"Confirmed. We have Agnes." Xena said as he squeezed the earpiece on his ear.

We shout with joy and hug each other. We had won this battle. As I hugged my friends I thought about the look on Lasse's face when he found out that we had gotten Agnes back. I couldn't help but smile.

"In three hours Agnes will be here." Xena explained

."Perfect. Thank you very much, Xena, can we talk for a second?" My mother said as she placed her hand on his back.

I didn't have time to thank Xena for what he had just done for us and Agnes. My mother and he went into an adjoining room behind closed doors.

"Alicia, this is amazing. We've made it, finally." Bergitte said as she hugged me again.

"Yeah, we can breather a little bit easier." I said with a big smile on my face.

"We've won so far, there's still a lot to do." said Jannik, who also hugged me tightly.

"That's true. We can't let our guard down until we have Lasse behind bars." I answered.

My mother walked over with Xena at her side. Both with a big smile.

"You can talk to Agnes on the phone. Now that she's rested a bit and she's calmer." Xena said as he gestured towards a room. We headed towards him quickly. Inside it was a table with a large speaker in the middle. Xena started punching some buttons and motioned for us to wait.

"Hello?" It was Agnes's very voice.

I couldn't believe it. Excitement ran through my entire body and my hair stood on end.

"Hello! My goodness! I can not believe it! How are you?" We all shouted into the device, full of joy.

I put my hands to my head while sketching an expression of surprise. I looked at the others. They were full of happiness and surprise.

"Well, well. These gentlemen have saved my life and I don't know how to thank them. I am very much looking forward to seeing you all. I have been told that in approximately three hours I will be with you. You don't know how long it is going to feel." She said laughing.

"The same to us. We really want to finally hug you. You don't know how glad we are that you're safe." My mother said, speaking on behalf of everyone.

"Thanks for everything. See you soon. I love you!"

"We love you more." We answered in unison.

Xena entered the room with a face buried in seriousness.

"We have a problem. You have to walk with me to security." He said as he turned around again and ran for the door.

We all followed him without knowing very well what was happening. We walked through a maze of corridors, doors, and elevators until we reached what appeared to be the security section. It was very similar to the place where we were before.

"Wait here, give me a few minutes and you will be able to come in." Xena explained as he disappeared out the door.

"I'm going to take this opportunity to explain to you what I've discussed with him." My mother said. "The trial is about to be set and I've asked Xena to leave us all the evidence and information from the rescue operation to bring to Lasse's trial. The relationship between the owner of the island and him is obvious and very valuable. Plus, we have a star witness, Agnes. Xena has agreed and everything will be sent to us in the next few hours. What do you think?"

"Sounds fair to me. The more we have against Lasse, the better. He's going to pay for everything he's done." Bergitte said as Jannik and I nodded.

It was quite a point that we had just earned. It was going to be very important to bring this evidence to trial. This time I couldn't blame my mother for anything. What he had just done was incredible. Xena appeared in the doorway.

"You can come in now." We accompanied him to another room.

To our left, there was a door with two armed men and to the right a spy mirror through which you could see the other room, a table, and a person handcuffed to it.

"This man was arrested ten minutes ago at the entrance to the building. He says he wants to talk to Alicia. So we have brought you here. Do you know him?" Xena explained pointing to the person in the next room.

I went to the window and I could make out his face. I recognized him right away, it was Tian.

"It's Tian, my old bodyguard. He who took part in the murder of Brita and my son. What is he doing here?" I said chewing each word with a fury that grew inside me.

"He wants to talk to you. He says it's important."

"Well, let's see what he has to say." I answered with a serious tone.

The door was opened and I entered what looked like an interrogation room. I stayed right at the door.

Behind Tian were two soldiers, one in each corner. Tian raised his head and our eyes met.

"Mrs. Madison. I have something important to tell you."

I did not answer. I crossed my arms and raised an eyebrow.

"I want to confess what I did. I want to testify at trial on your behalf. I want to tell the truth about Lasse and her son and her friend. I have proof, Mrs. Madson."
