When I ran out of the house, I saw Lauren trying to open my car door. "Unlock the door yo." She yelled in a playful tone. "Nah." I said bluntly as I walked down the thin road. "Where are you going now?" "Where do you think?" I answered sarcastically. She caught up to me and started walking beside me. "I'm going too." She said in a preppy voice. "Oh, really now?" I stopped and looked at her. Waiting for her to answer my question. She kept walking. Each step she took, she sped up with. I watched her practically fast walk all the way down the street. "Dumb ass." I screamed and ran back to my car. I hurried and got in and locked the door. I sped down the street and caught up with her. She looked at me with a shocked face. "You tricked me, I thought you were going to walk home." I rolled down my window and started laughing. "Well you obviously thought wrong Ms." I said as I rolled up my window and sped home. I don't feel guilty for making her walk. It's nothing wrong with a little exercise. I pulled up in the driveway and walked to the front door. I pulled out my keys and unlocked the door. As I walked in, the smell of fresh food hit my nose. I walked in the kitchen and saw my momma, cooking lord knows what. "Hey ma, what smells so good?" I asked her as I gave her a hug and a kiss. "Hey baby. I'm making pasta. Where have you been?" She asked as she turned around to look at me. "I went bowling with some friends last night." She nodded her head and went to go wash her hands. "Sounds fun." She said, drying her hands off. "Yeah, I stopped by Auntie Linda's today. She said call her." She smiled when she heard Auntie Linda's name. "Okay,I will." She said walking out of the kitchen and into her room. As I was just about to go upstairs, someone rang the doorbell. "It's open." I shouted. I heard the door open and small feet hit the tiled floor. "Chance, you suck." A fragile voice said. It was none other then Lauren. "Do you know how hot it is out there?" She asked, coming up the stairs. "No, but that's what you get for unplugging the T.V." I said, taking my shirt off and walking into my room. "Whatever." She said, following me, and laying on my bed. I grabbed some clothes out of my drawer and went to take a shower. When I came back, I saw Lauren in the same spot she was in before I left. She was playing with her phone. "What do you want to do today?" I said, sitting beside her, putting my shoes on. "Want to go swimming? We can have a pool party." She said as she sat up. A pool party doesn't sound so bad. "Yeah, you call your people and I'll call my people." I said and stood up from the bed. "Let's go to Vic's house. He's been calling me." I said, walking out of the room. She followed me. When we made it down stairs, I saw my momma again. "Hey Auntie Jan." She greeted my mother. "Hey baby, how you been?" My momma greeted with a hug and a kiss. "Good, what about you?" Lauren replied. "Fine girl. Where are you two about to go?" She asked looking at us. "We're about to head to the pool ma. I'll be back soon." I said, giving her a kiss before heading to the door. "Okay son. Don't get in any trouble." She called behind me. Lauren said goodbye and we were off to Vic's house. On the way there, we had already called people an  invited them to meet us a 5:00. It's only 2:00. We have enough time to goof around a bit. When we arrived at Vic's place, we seen him and Brooklyn sharing a joint on his door steps. Before I could park the car, Lauren jumped out and ran over to Vic. He picked her up and spun her around. "Someone's happy to see me." I heard him say as I got out of the car. As I walked up to the door steps, Brooklyn stood up and gave me a hug. "Hey Chance." She said in a flirty tone. "Hey." I simply said back. I was going to walk into the house, but she stopped me. "Vic thought we should act like we have something going on so she won't suspect anything." She whispered in my ear. I looked at her and she batted her eyes. I walked into the house without saying a word. "Hey Mr.Edward." I greeted Vic's pops. "Hey Lucky. How you been?" Mr.Ed always called me Lucky. I like it. "I've been good. How about you?" "I'm good boy. How's that hip hop music coming along?" I chuckled at how he didn't call it rap. "It's going great. I just got done with a radio show last week." "Sounds exciting." He said and stuck his head back in the news paper. A few seconds later, Vic came inside. "Yo Chance. You wanna hit the mall or something?" He asked as he walked into the kitchen for a bottle of water. "Yeah, sure." I said as I walked to the door. "See you later Mr.Edward." I said. "Yeah, see you pops." Vic added. Mr.Ed waved at us and we were on our way. On the way to the mall, Brooklyn sat in the front with me and Vic and Lauren were in the back giggling and what not. I could tell that it was bothering Brook because she was starting to fold fists. She fake yawned really loud and everything got quiet. "Damn girl. If you tired go to sleep." Vic said annoyed. She didn't say anything back. She rolled her eyes and looked at me like she had the best idea in the world. "Chano, you look cute today." She said and started rubbing my leg. She's setting herself up for failure. "Thanks but could you not do that? I'm driving." I said, not taking my eyes off of the road. "Oh, baby. You sound stressed. You want me to give you a little massage when the ride is over?" She started to rub my arm and lean in my face. "Brook, please. I'm driving. You'll get us a ticket." I said, lightly pushing her back in her seat. She sighed and took out a cigarette. "Don't smoke in my car." I said to her. She looked at me and put it away. When we got to the mall, Brooklyn and Lauren were wondering around Forever 21, while Vic and I were walking around the mall. "Say bruh, what you think about Brooklyn? You think you could play along with the act while I deal with Lauren?" I looked at him as if he were crazy. "Dude, if you want to cheat, do whatever. But don't get me caught up in your lie. I'm fine with the position that I'm in now." I said as I walked into Zumiez. I couldn't hear him walk in behind me, so I guess he wondered off somewhere. I don't think much of it. As I look around the store and pick up a few things, I decide to check out and catch up with everyone else. I walked up to the register and rang the bell for assistance. About a few minutes later, a short, brown skinned girl came out of the back room. She was pretty cute. "How may I help you?" She asked with a smile. "I wanna get these things and get outta here." I said bluntly. I read her name tag. "Jazmine" I read out loud. She took the things out of my hand and started checking them out. I watched closely and took a few glances at her face. She seems to like this job. When she bagged everything up and gave it to me, I decided to flirt a little. "So uh, Jazmine--" I started, she cut me off. "Hey, I know you. You're the guy that passes out mix tapes. Sorry to interrupt you, I just knew you looked familiar." She said squinting her eyes a bit. "Yeah, I'm Chance. So you wanna hang later on today?" I asked, trying to figure out why she was squinting her eyes. "Yeah, sure. I'll give you my number." She said while writing it on my receipt. "Alright cool. I'll text you." I said as I took the paper and walked out. I pulled my phone out, saved her number, texted her where we'll be later on and called Lauren. She picked up on the third ring. "Yo, where are you?" I asked. "We're at the food court. Is Vic with you?" She asked. "No- I'm walking up to the food court now." I hung up on her and met her in front of taco bell. "Where is he?" She asked, looking around. "I don't know. I thought you said Brook was with you." She turned around and looked back at me. "She was here just a second ago." I walked away from her and sat at a table. Soon after, she joined me. "So, what was that in the car?" She asked me, looking down at her phone. "What do you mean?" I asked, taking her phone from her. Demanding her full attention. "Exactly what I asked. Are you two together?" She asked, now playing with her fingers. I sighed loudly and rubbed my face. "No. We aren't together. Why do you ask?" "Because she hasn't shut up about you all day." She said looking up at me and smiling. "Chance, she's a good girl." She said, hitting me from across the table. I'm going to change the subject. "What were you and Vic laughing about in the back seat?" I asked, trying not to seem jealous. "Nothing." She said blushing and looking at her shoes. It was silent between me and her. All I could hear were the dozens of people around us talking about who knows what. "Want to see what I got?" She said enthusiastically out of no where. "Sure. Let me see." I said, helping her bring her bags onto the table. Lauren loves to shop. But she never does it often. She started to shuffle through the bags. "Okay, so I got some cute shirts from this weird store. I can't remember the name but whatever." A shadow was creeping on her. I looked up and saw Vic motioning me not to say anything. I looked back at her and he grabbed on to her tight and kissed her cheek. She jumped out of her skin. "Don't do that. I could've hurt you." Vic and I both laughed, knowing she was harmless at all. "It's not funny." She said a little whiny. "Baby, you couldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight." She looked up at him with puppy dog eyes and started fixing her hair. "Yes I could." She mumbled under her breath. Vic sat next to her and grabbed her hands. "I'm sorry." He said still laughing. "Aye, where's Brooklyn? I'm ready to get out of here." He said looking around." Not much longer, Brook appeared behind me, pulling up a seat beside me. "Did I miss anything?" She asked, throwing my arm around her. I looked at her, and then at them. Lauren shrugged and Vic winked at me. "Not much." I said annoyed. I stood up and looked at everyone. "Let's go." I said, walking away from the awkward scene. "Wait for me." Brook said catching up with me. Grabbing my hand. I wonder if Vic was with her while they were gone. "Where were you?" I asked, not looking at her. "Shopping. Where else?" She said in a flirtatious tone. "You must've done alot of shopping to come back with smeared lipstick and no shopping bags." I said letting go of her hand and picking up my paste.
