Light shone through my windows as Spark urged me to get up. The clock ticking away as I forgot to look at it.
"Dude the village bell just rang, time to get up," he rushed. "You didn't hear it?"
"No," I said back.
"Well I was up before it rang and I saw Jason storm out of his house literally a second before."
"Really? How long ago did it ring?" I said in surprise. This really woke me up as I pulled away my covers.
"About 1 minute ago," he responded. "Jason looked angry."
"Uh-oh. Do you think it was because we were up late last night?" Jason liked order and when there was the slightest thing out of line, he was first to jump.
"Maybe, but where would he have gone?" Spark was eager and slightly afraid.
"Maybe village hall?" I responded after a few seconds of thinking.
"For what?"
"We were up late last night, maybe that's why."
"Seriously? Who cares we weren't disturbing anybody."
"You don't know Jason," I told him. "He is the kind to complain about your grass being to high." Spark had a mixed face on, it was between being thoughtful and being scared.
"Do you think we will have to talk to Andrew Quinton?" Spark said.
"Hopefully not," I responded. "But just in case you are going to need to pack your things and run back to your house." Sleepovers were not forbidden, however we did stay up late, and if we were both found in different houses then it would ease our punishment if we were to get one. Quinton was strict, and that would increase our punishment. I had no idea what said punishment would be, but it would not be good.
"True," Spark said with a second thought.
"Well what are you waiting for? Get your things and run home," I pushed.
"Alright," he responded. Quickly he got his few things and left stealthily.
I watched him fly out the door while sprinting and looking right occasionally towards where Jason headed. I couldn't see him get to his house though but I knew he was there. Worried, I picked up a book and read it on my bed, awaiting the time I'd hear the knock from Andrew's assistants.
Some time had past and I was getting anxious to see if he was going to come or not. Just then I saw Jason, walking back all smug into his front door. Scared, I watched the furthest point knowing the direction of which they would come.
Watching and watching, no one. Then I heard a knock, without seeing anyone walk up. I opened the door, expecting the worse like a tackle or a swift grab. Andrew's men showed no remorse.
I opened the door and to my surprise Madi was standing on my doorstep, not the men. "Oh, what are you doing here?" I asked, trying not to be rude.
"Nothing, I was just wondering if we could talk a little bit," she responded.
"Yeah sure," I said. I opened the door for her as she walked in. From there, I checked the furthest point one last time; no one to be seen. I shut the door.
I turned around and she was already sitting on my bed, making herself at home. I didn't mind, so I pulled up my desk chair and sat parallel to her.
"What were you wanting to talk about?" I started.
"Hmm." She was hesitant but she knew what she wanted. "Can I stay here for a little bit?" She asked. "I will leave once I figure out what I need to do."
