Hey lovelies! Here's the first chapter of my new book. It's more just to get things started, I promise there's going to be more action in the future. Enjoy!

Amber's POV

My reflection stares back at me and I give a satisfied smile, mentally approving my outfit - an oversized white sweater thrown over light-washed boyfriend jeans. My dirty blonde hair flows down in its natural loose waves, contrasting my soft hazel eyes. I look average, and I love it. I shouldn't be able to draw much attention like this.

With one last glance at the mirror, I grab my school bag and head out the door for my first day. I had to move school mid-year due to some complications, but I'm just grateful this new school was within walking distance of my house.

Completely lost in thought, I only snap out of my trance when a car honks at me. "Watch where you're going, blondie!" an angry voice yells from the car that almost ran me over.

"Sorry," I murmur, but there was no point because they were around gone. I look up at the school in front of me and walk straight in.

"Good morning," I say politely to the receptionist. "I'm a new student and I'm starting school here today. My name is Amber Blaise."

The receptionist glances at me, looking very bored. I don't blame her. I would be too if I was in her shoes. She types a few things on her computer before collecting something from the printer. "Here's your timetable and locker combination." She hands a few sheets of paper to you.

"Thank you," I say, before walking off to find my locker. I successfully reach my target destination, unlock my locker and begin putting my books in.

"Hey!" A voice appears from right behind me.

I squeak in surprise, before covering my mouth in embarrassment. I turn to see a brunette girl standing next to my locker, smiling widely at me. "Oh... uh, hi," I say dumbly.

Her smile widens, if possible. "Hey! I haven't seen you around before so you must be new! Well actually I saw you talking to the receptionist just now so yeah, you're definitely new! Hahaha silly me," she rambles.

I smile. I haven't even been here for five minutes yet I think I've made a friend already? And a good one at that! "Yes, I'm new," I say with a smile. "My name's Amber."

"Nice to meet ya, Amber! This is so exciting! Not many people transfer here in the middle of the year so it's a nice surprise! School was starting to get a little bit too boring, you know. Oh, how rude of me! I'm Nicole."

Wow, this girl sure could talk. But that's good for me since I don't like speaking as much.

"Well, it's nice to meet you too Nicole," I say, meaning it. "Ah, yeah, my family had to move states recently because of my dad's work so here I am." I inwardly frown, not liking how I had to lie over something so simple to someone so nice. But what she doesn't know won't hurt her.

Her eyes light up. "Ohh, that's so cool! Your dad must be-"

She stops mid-sentence, her gaze no longer on me and is now cast upon something behind me.

"Nicole? Are you okay?" I ask confused.

Receiving no response, I follow her gaze and turn around only to see the most attractive male I have ever laid my eyes on in my entire life. My eyes widen, taking in his appearance.

Everything about him was oozing dominance. His stance was screaming out his confidence, demanding respect and obedience. His dark hair and dark eyes, combined with his tall stature and bulging muscular figure contained within a leather jacket, made me unable to reel my eyes away from him. He looked dangerous.

He continued walking through the corridor with two other also incredibly hot guys, but nothing compared to him. They both had smirks plastered onto their faces, but I couldn't concentrate on them. Not when the other guy was around.

Then, my heart stopped. The guy looked straight into my eyes and I felt paralysed. My eyes were stuck on his and I couldn't remove them no matter how hard I willed myself. There was something there. Something strange. Something unusual. Yet something so thrilling. It was intimidating as hell, but there was something else there. Comfort...?

"-ello? Amber, are you there? Are you okay?" A hand waved in front of my face, snapping me out of my trance. What just happened...

I look back up at Nicole to see a concerned expression on her face. "Uh, yeah, I'm fine. I just spaced out." I offer a weak smile.

A look of relief floods across her face. "Oh, thank god! I was seriously worried just now. I called your name so many times and you weren't responding."

I space out from her rambling and focus back on the guy just now. He's walking away now. What happened just then? What was that?

And I have a feeling my experience at school here won't turn out as average as I hoped.
