Anne's POV

"So what do you think of Brent?" It had taken all of winter break, but Monica was finally cool with me. It came as a sort of suprise but I welcome it one hundred percent. We were on the phone now, just talking.

"Well I only got a first impression of him. He seems really cool though and I guess he'll be a new friend of ours. Why do you ask?" There was a brief moment of silence until I heard her faint reply.

"No reason. Hey, I've got a shit ton of homework to do so I'll see you tomorrow, okay?"

"Yeah, sure." I hung up the phone and looked at the clock. It was only 7:38 p.m. and I laid in bed, putting off the essay that I know I should've been doing. Instead of doing that essay, I picked up my phone again and called Tony. He answered after a while of the phone ringing.

"Hello?" His voice sounded groggy and annoyed.

"Tony? Did you just wake up? What are you doing asleep in the middle of the day?" I laughed a little but he seemed cranky.

"Well yes. I was asleep. And to answer your question, I'm a little stressed, so yeah."

"Well my bad for waking you up then." I grumbled into the phone and he cleared his voice. There was a little shuffling and he replied.

"No, it's fine. What's up?"

"Well, nothing with me. I'm just bored. What's got you stressed?" I heard him let out a loud groan into the phone and I could practically hear the eye roll in his attitude.

"Have you ever felt like you made a wrong decision and became stuck in a worse place later down the line?"

"Mmmm, sure. I think that might've happened once or twice. Why?"

"I can't tell you. It's just got me stressed." I frowned a little at his reply but shook it off. This wasn't about me.

"Alright. Just remember that things always work themselves out in time. So if it doesn't seem like anything makes sense now, it should all make sense later. If it doesn't, then it was never supposed to in the first place. Go back to sleep." I didn't wait for a reply before hanging up the phone and punching in a new number.

"Hel - Haha, Vic stop! Wait... no! Vic, go grab Elizah! Go get her! Trevor stop sliding down the stairs! TREVOR! NOOOOO!" There was laughter over the phone at first and then commotion. I heard the phone drop to the floor and some chaos before it was picked up once again.

"Hello?" Valerie's cheery voice came over the phone and I was confused.

"Val, what the hell are you doing?"

"Oh, Vic is helping me babysit siblings. Elizah and Trevor. They're a handful. What's up Anne?" I was amused with her situation and smiled.

"Val, Tony's acting kinda weird. He won't tell me what's got him so worked up. Do you know anything?" I heard a crash in the background and Valerie sighed but didn't leave the phone.

"Huh, I mean, he seemed distant today. Before today he was a little distant but I didn't pay any mind to it. Sometimes Tony likes to be in his own world. What makes you so worried though?" I thought long and hard about the answer and it came to me. Something I knew, but never realized.

"Well, I care about Tony. We're close. I... I think I love him."

"You're in love with Tony!?" All noise in the background stopped and I heard Vic ask 'She's in love with Tony?' and I looked up at the ceiling like it would provide answers to everything.

"Yes. Val, what do I do?" I ran a frantic hand through my hair. Knowing I love Tony was one thing but admitting it scared me half to death.

"Anne, I don't know what to tell you. He already knows you like him but he also has a girlfriend. The most you can do is try and be there for him. So be a friend. I know it's not all that you want but sometimes it's all you can get."
