AN - Hope you like this! Just a short lil something for a friend 💕

Bakugou sighed into his palm and lowered his eyelids into a squint. He could clearly hear them laughing, joyously crying out. He wasn't part of the conversation. He didn't want to be. He only wanted to be part of it if it was just him, and Kirishima.
But that would be too obvious.
Bakugou could never admit his feelings for Kirishima. Not to the red-haired boy himself, nor to anyone else. It was clear that Bakugou was a loner, so he didn't have any friends to confess to. Not that he would want to. But Kirishima was laughing, practically crying from happiness, as he stood by Deku's desk with a few other classmates.
He sighed. It was hopeless.

As Bakugou walked home, his hands stuffed in his pockets, he suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned to see none other than the red-haired boy grinning next to him. Bakugou jumped and swatted the hand off of his shoulder.
"What do you think you're doing, shitty-hair?!" He gasped, startled.
Kirishima smiled and held his hands up. "Sorry! Didn't mean to scare you. Just wanted to talk to you for a second."
Bakugou felt his face burning but tried to hide his nervousness. "What?"
"Well, you seemed a bit down earlier. I wanted to ask if you were okay."
"Why do you care?" Bakugou snarled. It wasn't that he was angry about the concern Kirishima expressed; rather, he didn't want Kirishima to have to worry about him. He didn't deserve that burden.
"You're my friend! It's my job to care, isn't it?"
Bakugou's eyes widened a bit. "I... I'm fine. Don't worry about it."
He stuffed his hands in his pockets again and kept walking, leaving Kirishima staring with a mixture of confusion and worry in his eyes.
It really was hopeless.

Days passed. Bakugou kept to himself, and Kirishima continued to worry about his friend. But Bakugou refused to interact with him. After all, he couldn't let it slip that he loved- no, it was just a crush! -Kirishima. He had to do it at the right moment. But could he at all? Kirishima was such a ray of sunshine. How could someone as explosive as Bakugou deserve to even be near him?
Bakugou was brought out of his thoughts on a cold, winter's day as a familiar face slipped into view.
"C'mon, man. Tell me what's wrong."
Bakugou frowned at Kirishima. "What if nothing is wrong?"
"Don't do this again! You're my friend. I'm here for you! Tell me what it is."
Bakugou glanced away, his lips tightening. He couldn't keep up like this any longer. "I like you."
Kirishima tilted his head quizzically. "Yeah, I know. We're friends."
Bakugou shook his head. "No, idiot. I like you."
Kirishima's eyes widened. "You do?"
"Yeah," Bakugou sighed. "I do."
Kirishima smiled. "Good. I do too. Let's get something hot to drink after class, okay?"
Bakugou looked up. "You really want to go somewhere with me?"
"Of course! I like you too," Kirishima smiled.
Bakugou smiled for a second before returning to his normal scowl. "If you tell anyone about this, I'll kill you."
Kirishima chuckled. "I know."
He put his hand on Bakugou's for a moment before going back to his desk. Bakugou watched him leave, unable to hide the smile that formed on his face.
I guess it wasn't hopeless after all.
