Like with all pets there are rules for owning them, the most simple are pretty straight forward - bring no harm, do not limit food sources, do not sexually harass, and do not limit water sources.
Straight forward really, these laws are put in place in all 12 galaxies under the district of planet defenses, and even all 'vampires' and 'were-wolves' as the beings who now rule one tenth of 'earth' (all human given titles for guila humans and their previous home planet.)
Here is a list of laws which are in place everywhere, most places have added a few more due to the rate that humans died during the beginning.
1. Humans must be shown their preset radio broadcast
2. Humans need to be fed at the least 2 times a day
3. Water must be present in a humans life consistently
4. Do not lash out towards a human
5. Do not bring harm to your human
The rest of the rules get repetitive, and these are the most important, the reason for more rules than a difficult qilauta is because various cases of accidental injuries, arrogance and ignorance leading to ill health and even death.
The best way to have a human is to understand that with all rehabilitated species they are pets only because they have proven to be incapable of caring for themselves much less their planet.
The way I responded to these rules was to basically confine and consistently offer water, food and toys, but that wasn't a good decision, their vet explained to me that they were getting no stimulation and that I have to let them be human and explore and meet others.
