Song: Jukebox (Life Goes On) by The Summer Set

Ricky

"Ricky, what time are we on?" Chris, the lead singer of the band I was in, questioned. It was the first day of Warped Tour 2014 and we were finally on main stage. While Chris sang in our band Motionless In White, I played guitar.

"I think at four twenty," I responded, pulling out my phone to check the time. We still had two hours before we had to be on. I quickly put my phone away and took in our surroundings. As I glanced around at the tents that surrounded us, something caught my eye. Well, rather, someone caught my eye. She had long black hair that cascaded down her back perfectly and the most beautiful green eyes I had ever seen. Her gorgeous irises were rimmed with heavy black eyeliner and she was dressed in all black.

"Ricky!" Chris cried out in exacerbation, waving his hand in front of my face. The action made me jump and rudely broke into my thoughts.

"What?" I questioned, clearly annoyed. I had obviously zoned out, but he could've let me look at her a bit longer. He had probably been trying to get my attention for a long time, though.

"What the hell are you looking at?" he asked, looking around as if it would pop out of him. I again found myself staring over at the girl, who was standing under a tent labeled The Word Alive. This time, her gaze met mine. Even from where I was standing, I could see her cheeks get pink and she quickly looked away.

"Nothing," I mumbled, looking down at the black top parking lot. Chris just shook his head at me before I looked up again. The girl's gaze was this time focused on me. As soon as she saw me looking, she again looked away with a face of embarrassment. The first thing that I thought was that she was really cute when she was ashamed.

"Are you looking at that girl?" Chris suddenly asked, his face lighting up. I could already tell he was formulating ways to tease me. "If you like her, just go talk to her instead of staring at her like a creep," he added. That was easy for him to say. He was a pretty outspoken guy, while I was more the type to keep to myself.

"I don't like her. I haven't even met her," I replied, pulling out my pack of cigarettes and my lighter. All Chris' questions were making my nerves skyrocket.

"Well, it's obvious you think she's pretty," he explained as I lit up the stick between my lips. Had I really made it that obvious?

"Yeah, but that doesn't mean I like her," I murmured after taking a drag of my cigarette. There was no way anyone could like someone after only making eye contact twice.

"You should still talk to her instead of staring," he countered. While he was right, I was really hoping he'd just drop the subject. The last thing I needed was him bugging me all the time.

"Here. I got you a burger, Ricky," Motionless In White's other guitarist, Ryan, told me, plopping the food down on the table in front of me. We were at the post-show barbecue, which was always delicious.

"Thanks," I told him gratefully. I had decided to be lazy and make Ryan get my food for me. That's what friends were for, right? Anyway, I was starving, so I immediately devoured the perfectly cooked burger.

"You're stomach is literally a bottomless pit," Ryan commented, shaking his head at me. I just laughed and started to stand up to go find a trashcan. Of course as I backed up, my body slammed into someone else.

Liz

"Sorry!" the guy cried out as my food collided with his back and my front, the styrofoam plate cracking in half. I let out a frustrated sigh. It looked like my new Of Mice and Men shirt was ruined.

I was about to get pissed when the guy turned around. When my eyes met his perfect  eyeliner rimmed pupils, I realized that it was the guy that had been looking at me earlier that day and my anger instantly melted. He was way too hot to be mad at.

"Sorry," he apologized again, breaking through my thoughts. He cheeks were the color of the tomatoes on the burger as he surveyed the mess his carelessness had created.

"Uh, it's fine," I replied, grabbing the plate I had dropped on the floor during the collision. My shirt now had ketchup and bits of hamburger all over it, but at least it had given me a chance to talk to him.

"But your shirts ruined and you need a new burger," he protested.

"The burger was for my friend anyway," I responded with a smile, looking behind him at the guys from The Word Alive. I had sold merch for them for a few years now and we had all become really good friends.

Before I could get another word out, he had taken the now disgusting burger and was heading to the trashcan. I wasn't sure what to do, so I just followed him. His next stop was the napkin dispenser, where he handed me a wad of paper napkins. I was about to wipe off some of the ground meat when I saw his hands doing the work for me. I was so entranced with the way his pale hands worked over my torso that it was like the rest of the world had disappeared. It was so weird the way he had could interest me in such the tiniest way. I didn't even protest that a stranger was touching me. When he noticed me watching, he glanced up and gave me this amazing smile that showed off his spider bites very nicely. How could one person be that good-looking?

When he had done the best job he could trying to get the massive staines out of my shirt, he started walking towards the short line for food. By now, most everyone had gotten their food and was sitting down. The next time Telle, the singer of The Word Alive, wanted a second burger, I was telling him to get it himself.

"I'm Ricky, by the way," the guy told me, again interrupting my thoughts. I really couldn't complain, though. His voice was like music to my ears as cheesy as that sounds. Wait, was I falling for this guy who I had met only moments ago? There was no way. I mean, he was nice and all, but until right then I hadn't even known his name.

"Liz," I replied subconsciously. Not only was he insanely handsome, I had the feeling I had seen him somewhere before that morning. He had to be in one of the other bands, but I couldn't remember which one.

"Do you work for The Word Alive?" he questioned, obviously just trying to make conversation. I was almost wishing he hadn't stood in the line to get another burger because his presence was making my stomach do flip flops.

"Yeah. I'm their merch girl," I answered with a nod. I had been friends with Telle since before he joined the band. Right around the time he became their vocalist, I lost my job, so he had asked me to tour with them and sell their merchandise. "You're in a band, right?" I asked.

"Yep. I play guitar in Motionless In White," he responded. That was were I had seen him before. We had done a few festivals with Motionless In White before, so I had probably seen him around there before.

Soon, we reached the front of the line and I grabbed one of the last hamburgers. "Well, I should go get this to my friend," I told him a bit reluctantly.

"Yeah, of course. It was nice meeting you, though, Liz. Next time I see you, I'll try not to spill food on you," he joked with a grin. I couldn't help but smile back. I seriously think he could've spilled food on me again and I would still think he was an awesome guy.

I quickly made my way back to the table of my friends and set the plate down in front of my best friend. "You're welcome for that," I told him before he could utter out a 'thank you.'

"It looks like someone's got a crush on Ricky," Telle teased, totally ignoring my remark. If it was that obvious, maybe I did like him. He was really sweet and super good-looking, but we had just met. Wasn't it too early to have a crush on him?
