Chapter 30

Ethan's POV

We've been running for 30 minutes straight now, and I think I might collapse. Kamryn's limp body is weighing me down.

"Guys!" I shout, struggling to keep up with them. Fortunately, Crystal looks back. "Slow down!" She yells in her high pitched voice.

The others slow down to a stop, letting me catch up. I lay Kamryn down gently onto the grass of the forest we stopped in, and place my hands on my knees, panting heavily.

"I can't continue" I choke out between breaths. Shannon looks around at our unfamiliar surroundings.

"I suppose we could set up camp here, but not for long. Just to take a break and then we have to keep moving and find shelter" she says matter of factly.

We all nod in agreement. I start clearing off a grassy patch of forest floor and spread my jacket out. As I lay down and start to settle in, I see Darcy, Caleb and Delilah walk out of the woods with various sized sticks.

They set them down in a less grassy area and start to make a teepee like formation for a fire.

"Hate to burst your bubble guys, but, how are we going to light it?" Liam says.

As soon as he finishes the sentence, the sticks magically burst into flames. I look over at a now very alert Kamryn sitting up a few feet away from me.

Caleb runs over to his sister and engulfs her in a bear hug. Kamryn laughs and pats his back. "It's okay little bro, I'm fine"

Caleb mutters something back and pulls Kamryn to her feet. "So, where exactly are we?" She asks. I shrug.

"About a half hour from home, why?" Crystal asks. Kamryn seems to light up. I give her a look.

"My family owns a little cottage somewhere around here, I think. If I were to guess, I'd say its about a twenty minute walk from here" she says.

"Great. We'll rest for a little longer and then start walking" Shannon says, taking control again.

I nod and lay back on the ground, replaying the event of today in my mind

Zayn's POV

I grip the metal bars, trying to pull them apart. Unfortunately, the guards must have brushed them with vervain, a vampires worst enemy, because they burn my hands.

I just have to get Perrie back. I have to know she's safe.

I try to break the bars one last time before giving up. I flop onto my back and throw an arm over my face.

"Hey, she'll be okay. We'll get out soon" Tiff says from beside me. Unfortunately, her words do not comfort me in the slightest.

I lay on the cold floor for a while longer, until I hear a heavy door open forcefully. A big man marches into the room holding our cells, carrying an unconscious Perrie over his shoulder.

"Seems like your friend here is unlike the rest of you animals. She's completely human" the man says. If only he knew.

He stomps through the room to Perrie's cell. I swear if he hurt her at all- my thoughts are cut off when I see Perrie's pale hand give me a thumbs up.

I almost laugh as the man sets her down on the ground inside her cell. He goes to walk out, but suddenly starts violently shaking. His eyes roll into the back of his head, and he passes out cold on the floor.

Everyone starts to clap as Perrie stands up, brushing herself off. I laugh when she does a little now. Always the performer that one.

She grabs the cell keys out of the mans grasp and starts unlocking the cages. Unfortunately, the key only works on a few cages, probably in case setting like this happens, then not all of the prisoners escape.

Me, Sam, Liam and Harry are the few lucky ones.

"Okay everyone, we need a plan" Liam says. "I say that we split up into two groups, one of us look for Louis, and the other look for the key for the other cells" he says after a moment.

I nod. "Sounds good to me" I say. Liam nods as well. "Great, Zayn, you and Perrie look for the keys. Me, Sam and Harry will look for Lou" we take off in different directions.

Harry's POV

We walk quietly down an empty hallway. I hear creaks and footsteps, but they are not anywhere near us, thankfully.

"Hey, Liam, do we have any idea what we're looking for?" I whisper. Liam just shakes his head and shrugs, continuing down the hallway.

We pass by many different rooms, a furnace room, bathroom, even a kitchen, but still no Louis. Suddenly, I hear a loud shout, probably the guy that Perrie knocked out, and footsteps rushing towards the noise.

Liam hears them too because his eyes go wide and he frantically looks around. A little bit ahead of us, I see another room, labeled 'PRIVATE DO NOT ENTER' in bold.

Of course, we run into that one, closing the door just in time to the police men run by without paying any attention to us.

I breathe out a sigh of relief. Sam gasps and I turn around to see what's wrong. The sigh before me makes my stomach drop.

Louis lies strapped tightly to a table, with multiple tubes attached to his arms. From what I can tell, one is slowly draining all the blood out of my best friend.

We all run over to Louis, me and Liam carefully detaching thing from him while Sam hugs him for dear life.

I grow out my claws and try to cut the restraints binding Lou, but they won't snap. I look around the room for a key, but I suppose humans are smarter than they used to be.

As if planned, a nurse or whatever walks through the door. She doesn't notice us as she locks the door behind her, but as soon as she turns around her eyes go wide and she turns, struggling with the handle.

I'm beside her in a flash. I shift into my vampire form, bearing my fangs at the terrified lady. "What? Have you never seen a vampire before?" I taunt.

Liam coughs from behind me and when I turn around, he's giving me a 'Don't mess around' look. I roll my eyes at him and turn back to the nurse lady.

"You see that guy over there?" I grab her face roughly so she's forced to look at poor Louis. "That's my friend, and I suggest that you let him go before we eat you for dinner" I hiss in her ear.

The lady nods quickly and rushes over to the table, unlocking the restraints with a small silver key. As she turns around, I see her pull a small object from her pocket. And emergency help button.

She presses it and immediately an alarm goes off. "Dammit!" I curse and use my speed to be at her side in milliseconds. I waste no time in snapping her neck, latching my fangs into her jugular vein, sucking her blood out.

I pass the body around to Liam and Sam so they can regain some strength. I'm startled by the door handle shaking violently.

They've found us.
