Imagination

God looked at our drab world one day and said, "I thought I did good with these humans, but they don't seem very happy."

That's when one of said humans had an idea. God noticed this idea and instantly knew what to do.

So He gave people imaginations.

They thought of amazing things, good things, bad things, questionable things that still worked, questionable things that will never work. He gave humans free will because he knew it'd ultimately ruin society, but He loved everyone. He wanted them to be happy, He wanted a bit of gratitude for giving humans the things He did.

Well, we can't all have what we want.
