Xander took hold of my wrist, a playful smile gracing his face. "I would watch what you say if I were you." He whispered before taking off, with me a few yards away, doing my best to keep my breathing even. My vampire speed comes in handy, and I'm able to catch up to him.As we got closer to the village square, he slowed down significantly, while I almost take a tumble. Xander enveloped my hand in his once I regain my balance, the amusement on his face apparent. "Jerk. You could've at least warned me." I grumbled, but the childish glee and adrenaline still were pumping through my veins. A smile was still on my face, even if I tried my best to be angry with him. "If I had done that, it wouldn't have been as funny." He chuckled as we started walking calmly into the square, appearing to be a young couple amongst the older crowd.
A few children scurried about, happiness radiating from their giggles and smiles. It reminded me of the city streets of home, those days when I disguised myself and walked amongst my people just so I could feel more mortal than the immortal they treated me as. So they would treat me as if I was on the same level as every other non-royal elf in that queendom. As an equal rather than what my mother treated me as. I loved those days. A longing feeling rose to my chest, overcoming any other emotion that I might have been feeling. My smile wavered as I looked at them once more, before deeming that any homesickness would be unnecessary if I didn't have a certain home or realm. I wouldn't know if the packhouse, Aidan's palace, or Diana's Peak would be considered my home. If the home is where the heart is, then where is my heart?
A statement that might be considered petty coming from a royal, who could just build herself a home with the riches in her vault.
I was snapped back into reality when I noticed that Xander was looking at me worriedly. "Sorry. I blanked out." I apologised, cursing myself for letting my attention slip away. He nodded before tugging at my hand, signalling for me to start walking once more. I obeyed, forcing my emotions into submission so I didn't have to be subjected to more painful thoughts and memories from before all of this.
We walked down a newer-looking path until we reached where we would be staying, which happened to be a cabin surrounded by forest. I looked to Xander expectantly, wanting an answer on how he even had the time to have this arranged. He just shrugged as if saying: "I have my ways."
He walked up to the front door, unlocking it with a key and opening it for me to step through. Once I did, he closed it behind us both and stepped further into the cabin. I looked around in awe at the furniture and the welcoming feeling that washes over me once I noticed it all. I couldn't tell if Xander had a similar reaction, I was so distracted. "I'll lead you to your room." He took hold of my hand again, dragging me out of that room, down a hallway, and into one of the bedrooms, which looked plainer than the room that I had just seen before. Xander closed the door behind him as he left. I pouted, shrugging off my sweaty clothes until I was just in my undergarments. I assumed that there would be clothes in the closet, and finding that there was only a few dresses, a nightgown, and a few pairs of pants and shirts. I sighed, putting on the nightgown, shuffling over to the bed after throwing my sweaty clothes in a basket, tucking myself under the blankets, and drifting off to a troubled sleep.

I yawned, stretching my sore limbs and getting out of bed begrudgingly. Rubbing at my eyes, I shuffled over to the bathroom, splashing water on my face as an attempt of waking myself up fully. Even if I wished to go back to sleep, I knew if I did that I would miss a good half of the day.Rubbing my eyes once more, I walked out of my room and knew that I was never returning home.
