Kabanata 36. Heart Beat

Natasha's POV

"Wag na wag mo nang gagawin yon"

"A--ang alin?"

"Ang umalis sa tabi ko"

I felt as if all my worries and sadness went away and changed into something I don't know. Parang may mga tumatakbo sa loob ng tyan ko.

We stayed still looking at each other for a minute. A long awkward minute. Kaya naman yumuko ako tinuro yung pinanggalingan namin kung saan naiwan si Lino na parang walang nagawa dahil sa gulat nung hilahin ako ni Oyang.

"Si-si.. si Lino iniwan natin dun."

"I don't care."

Galit ba sakin si Oyang? Silang lahat?

"Anong iniisip mo at bigla ka na lang umalis ng walang sabi?" Naka-kunot na noong sabi ni Oyang. I can see that he's worried.

"Do you know how much we all worried about you? Lahat kami hinanap ka."

Na-guilty ako sa mga sinasabi ni Oyang. I got too carried away with my emotions and I didn't take care of it well.

"We looked everywhere.." mabilis ang paghinga ni Oyang na para bang he's been running.

"We all went looking for you. Sa school. Sa barangay Puraka...."

"Sorry.." that's all I could say.

"No."

Mabilis na napatingin ako kay Oyang.

I thought he was mad at me but.. he just.. he pulled me into his arms and hugged me tightly.

I can feel his heart beating so fast. And mine too. Actually I don't know anymore whose heart beat I can feel.

"Do you.. do you know how terrible I feel.. when it wasn't me who found you first?" Sabi ni Oyang in between his deep breaths. He still has me in his arms.

"Do you know how much.. how much rage I felt when I saw you with him? He was the one who found you first. Not me. Shit."

Nanlaki ang mga mata ko when I heard him swear. But my heart.. it's beating so freakin fast.

"Don't. Ever. Do this again." He said before he let go and break our hug. His hands stay still on my shoulders while looking at my eyes intently.

"You.. can't just leave by my side like that."

He sighed.

"Not.. until I tell you this.."

Tell me what?

"Tasyang.. mahal ka ni Lino..." he paused for a second

.

The world stopped.

Only my heart beat kept going. My heart wants to come out of my chest, it's beating rapidly.

Napahawak ako sa chest ko dahil sa bilis ng takbo ng puso ko. It's too loud that I think Oyang can hear it too.
