"We are interrupting this broadcast for an important update! It's been nearly two years since this horrific tragic incident happened at Parkway Memorial National Park where two adult individuals opened fire in a park full of children and adults." I sit up on the couch turning up the volume. "After so much time has passed the two individual's names and picture have now been released." I stand in awe looking at the tv. Tears pooling in my eyes.

"Mom.....dad....." "Hey Serah What do you...." I turn to him. "Did you know Dylan? Did you know?!" He swallows. "They killed all people and you knew!" He shakes his head. "I didn't know until after they got arrested, Serah." I let the tears pour down my face. "You lied to me! You told me they were coming back!" He steps up to me. "Serah I had no choice. What was I supposed to say you were twelve."

He grips my arm and I try to tug away from him but he pulls me into a hug. "I'm sorry Serah. I didn't want you to find out this way." I grip at his shirt sobbing just like I did when I was a kid. He turns the tv off  before pulling away from me. "I bet you aren't hungry?" I shake my head. "No I feel sick." He huffs. "Try to get some rest Serah. Maybe you'll feel better." I nod laying my head down on the couch to close my eyes.

"Serah..." I groan rolling some. "What?" He sighs. "You were dreaming again." I rub my eyes. "Serious Dylan we have a house now. You don't have to watch me like a hawk." He huffs. "I know. You didn't say much when you came home so I got worried." I sit up. "I just met Amanda and I may have made a new friend." He raises an eyebrow. "Amanda?" I nod. "You remember her she was my only friend back home." He gasps. "Oh well I'm glad you're making friends."

He gets up from his spot in front of the couch to head into the kitchen. "There's something else though..." I hear him hum. "Amanda said that some people around here caught wind of us. They aren't too fond." I don't hear anything and I'm half scared he didn't hear me. But when he peeks his head out with his jaw clenched I frown. He opens his mouth and I shake my head. "You aren't barricading me in again Dylan. I don't care if they know. What mom and dad did was horrible and it doesn't have anything to do with who we are."

He folds his arms leaning against the doorframe. "You're so right Serah but that's not how other people think. I'm not barricading you in again but if something happens to you it's gonna be a world of hell." I sigh. "I'll be okay Dylan." He turns heading back into the kitchen. The doorbell rings and I hear a fish break as if he threw it. I sigh getting up to go get the door. I open it to reveal Jacob. I let my breath catch. "Serah?" I just stare at him. "You're the new neighbors." My hear thumps a bit harder.

"Neighbors?" He points to the far aways down. It's so far that it kinda just looks like a little dot to me. "Wait so this is your farm?" He smiles tipping his hat. "Family farm actually." I open my mouth to say something but hear my name being called by Dylan. "Serah..." He stops behind me and I let my head fall. "Who's this?" Jacob sticks his hand out. "I'm Jacob sir." Dylan's jaw is still locked but He shakes his hand. "Dylan and who might you be exactly, Jacob?" I open my mouth. "Dylan..." He gives me a strong glare. "I want to talk to Jacob, Serah. I broke a plate in the kitchen so be careful okay?" I nod mouthing a sorry to Jacob before stepping past Dylan to clean up the mess in the kitchen.

Once I'm done cleaning I step out to see Dylan look at me with a soft smile. I laugh. "Okay are you actually happy?" He rolls his eyes. "Yeah I am because Jacob told me that he could use some help around his family farm and you could use the money. We both could." I look at Jacob. "Oh no. I'm not letting him pay me to work." Jacob smiles shrugging softly. "Well we need some help and I can't let you work for free." I huff. "Fine. When do I start?" Dylan stands. "Now." I look at Jacob and he nods standing. "Let's go." I roll my eyes huffing before nodding.

He parks and we get out in front of the house. "My parents aren't actually here. They have another farm in Florida so they will be there for quite some time. So you won't have to worry about meeting them anytime soon." I nod softly as he motions me towards the house. I look around before following him up into the house. He steps in and I do the same stopping to examine the beautiful huge farmhouse.

"Wow this place is beautiful

"Wow this place is beautiful." He smiles a toothy grin at me pulling me in before shutting the door. "Thank you. My parents have worked hard to maintain it. Though it's practically mine considering they are gone most the time." I glance around and he steps into the kitchen grabbing two bottles of water handing me one. "Come on we have work to do and we are running out of daylight." I take the bottle before following him through the house and out the back door.

We walk side by side through the fields. "So what exactly is it you want me to do?" He hums. "Well since I'm sure you aren't used to lifting the feed. I'm gonna feed and water the animals and I need you to clean out the horses stables. It's supposed to storm tonight so they'll have to stay there." I nod softly. It takes us about ten minutes to get to the barn and he goes one by one opening the stables to let the horses out. I cover my nose taking a breath. He laughs handing me a shovel. "You'll get used to it. Let's get to work Serah." I take the shovel watching him walk off with a laugh before I start to clean.

I'm covered in dirt and horse poop as I trudge back to the house. I smelled horrible. Jacob left to go more feed. I head into the house realizing that there's no way that I would make it home walking as it was already starting to rain. I find my way upstairs to a bathroom shedding my clothes to shower. Once I'm out I realize that my clothes were ruined. I sneak to a room up the hall and as I open the closet I see that this must be Jacob's clothes. I full snatching a flannel and a pair of boxers as shorts because I really didn't have a choice. I trudge downstairs flipping down on the couch as I hear the wind start to pick up.

I send a text to Dylan saying that I was at Jacob's and that I didn't want to walk home so I would wait to go back until he came back home. My eyes grow heavy and I lay down on the couch dozing off. There's a loud clap of thunder and I jump slightly. There was a blanket covering me that wasn't there before. I sigh cursing below my breath. I sit straight up. "Dylan's gonna kill me..." I mumble. "No he's not. He knows you're here." I look over into the kitchen wrapping myself in the blanket.

"I told him you weren't gonna come back tonight because the storm was too bad." I sigh standing. "And he was okay with that?!" He takes a drink of his water. "He was." He states simply. I huff looking down as I standing on the other side of the kitchen from him as it storms heavily outside. He sighs. "By the way mind telling my why you decide to barrow my clothes?" I swallow thickly wrapping myself deeper in the blanket. "I fell while I was cleaning out the stalls. So I had to shower but I didn't have any clothes. I'm sorry."

He steps up to me pushing a piece of hair behind me ear. "It's okay. You should probably get more sleep." I look up at him softly and he steps away making me bite my lip before going to take my spot back on the couch. He turns the lights out whispering, "Goodnight Serah." I smile. "Goodnight Jacob."
