you can't fight cancer 🖤

First Day Part: 1

Alexandra's POV:
it's the first day of freshman year. i wake up to my 6 am alarm and got dressed for school. i put on a short jean skirt and a white blouse.

i went to put my white nike airs on and i fell off my bed. what the heck? i rubbed my head and fixed my hair. "alex! breakfast!" my dad called. "coming!" i went down the steps. "we finally have a high schooler in the family!" my little brothers ran up and high fived me. i have 2 little brothers. Nick and Matt. they are 9 year old twins. and then there's my little sister Avery who is 7.
My dad started tearing up. "i wish your mother were here to see this." "dad, stop. my eyeliner." i began wiping tears from my eyes. my dad hugged me.
4 years ago, after avery's 3rd birthday, my mom died of cancer. and ever since then, i've been bullied in school cause when you're 10 and don't have a mom everyone thinks you're weird. well especially this kid Zach. he says the worst things. "let's hope she isn't contagious with cancer. everyone stay away from her." and even after elementary school was over, last year in middle school he put a doctors mask and gloves in my locker and said we don't need the whole school infected. that's the only reason that over the summer, i redid everything. i lost weight, bought a whole new wardrobe and i learned some makeup skills, with the help of my best friend Melissa. she's been there for me ever since it happened. she tries to stick up to Zach but this year. it's my battle to fight. "let's go kiddos." my dad said as we piled in the car.
when i got to school me and Melissa looked at each other's schedules. we only had photography, gym, lunch and study hall together. "Alex what am i supposed to do in math, english, chem, and Italian without you?" "How do we have every boring class the same teacher but different periods?" "the system is hacked." i laughed. that's when.
"wassup hoe, cancer hoe" i turned around. "Hi Jake" i smiled. "woah cancer got a makeover." Melissa rolled her eyes. when i looked at Zach he was staring at me. "herron" jake snapped. "huh? oh sorry. i have to get to class" zach walked away. "Awe is heroin done being your little bitch jake?" Melissa teased. jake stormed off. that was weird though. why was zach not insulting me?
Zach's POV:
the whole summer i was working out and getting ready for freshman year. i wanted to join soccer and nothing was getting in my way. that was until i saw Alex. i noticed something after last year, cancer is not a joke. my nonna (grandma) died of it over the summer. and i felt really bad for everything i've ever done to Alex. But i can't do anything now, my friends think bullying her is easy all because of me. when i saw her in the hallway i couldn't say anything all i did was stare. i could tell she changed a lot this summer. she looked amazing. when Jake said the word cancer, i walked to my first class and began to hold back the tears. i walked into study hall and when the bell rang, Alex and Melissa walked in too. fuck.
