*laralyn's pov*

"clinton shut up!" i dissented, putting my head in my hands as i walked out of my hotel room and into the hall.

"all i'm saying is, your southern accent is funny," he chuckled slightly. i turned my head to mitchel to see if he would defend me as we all stood in the hall, waiting for jesse and pat to come out of their hotel rooms.

mitchel shrugged his shoulders as he noticed my gaze on him. "i mean, i'm not gonna say it isn't funny at times."

i drew in a breath, my eyes browsing the ragtag group of australian boys. "you guys are assholes. y'all sound like you came straight out of the outback, but you don't hear me saying anything about it."

christian snickered as he said the word "y'all" with a southern accent to ridicule me. i was about to open my mouth to snap at him before an adjacent hotel room door shifted open and jesse and the consistently mute patrick ambled out.

"sounds like you guys are about to start a wwe match in the hallway," jesse complained, rolling his eyes at how loud we were being.

he did a "come hither" motion, and we all followed him out of the hotel and into the sunlight. it was still an unharmonious adjustment to make with the way summer fell on the typical american winter months.

i wasn't sure how much i trusted jesse driving as we normally all ubered in los angeles, but he reassured us it would be fine as we slid into the leather seats of his suv.

"laralyn is going to be stuck with the cave brothers once we all go back to our own towns you know. how much do you trust mitchel driving?" he sniggered.

mitchel scoffed as i giggled and said, "i don't. i'm sure they have uber here. or at least i hope."

clinton waved me off with a roll of his eyes as jesse continued to drive. "i have driven us places plenty of times and no one was worried."

"yeah, when we were all too drunk to care," christian interposed, one eyebrow raising up.

this continued as the car sped on the road to the cave household, and i almost had to plug my ears to drown out the constant annoying bickering. but at the same time, it made me slightly pleased they were fighting so it could take my nerves away from meeting mitchel's parents. no matter how much everyone assured me it would be grand, i had a thing for fucking everything up.

a while later we pulled into the driveway of a quaint little home, which seemed humorous to view mitchel growing up in. i supposed it never registered to me that mitchel was once a wide eyed virtuous kid too.

we all unloaded ourselves from the car and i took a few deep breaths as we treaded up to the door. mitchel knocked, rocking back and forth on his heels as he hadn't seen his mother and father in quite an interminable time and it had to be exciting for him.

a moment later, the door swung open and a gorgeous woman with brunette hair and a bold smile appeared, and i instantly identified her as biddi cave.

"hello everyone!" she beamed, conducting us all in before swaddling her arms around mitchel and clinton and suffocating them with kisses. "my boys, i've missed you so so dearly," she breathed out cheerfully.

in an instant, her attention turned from her sons to me. "and you most be mitchel's gorgeous girlfriend laralyn! i've heard so many good things about you, and i'm so happy to finally meet you! i must say, you're the first girl he's brought home to mom, and i'm a little nervous," she prattled, and it soothed my nerves instantly to know she was just as nervous as me.

i spread out my arms for a hug and she gladly accepted it. "i'm so happy to meet you finally also. i know mitchel has missed you so much," i laughed into her arms.

she pulled back a moment later and gave us all a once over. "well, food is already ready in the backyard and brian is back there waiting. let's go," she said, and i watched her petite figure lead us to the sliding glass door.

once we were outside, mitchel enfolded an arm around me, bringing me to his dad who was sitting by the grill. "hey dad, i would love for you to meet my girlfriend, laralyn," he smiled proudly.

his dad brian gave me a small wave. "it's a pleasure to meet you laralyn. i'm happy this one has finally settled down," he teased, pointing at mitchel.

i nodded with him, knowing how much of a wild child he was before we met. "agreed."

mitchel whispered in my ear that he was going to go assist his mom with something and i nodded, shooing him off as i didn't want him to feel too burdened with helping me around. i turned towards the table set up with food and managed to find some salad and other foods i liked, deciding to just eat that. i was a bit of a picky eater and it kinda sucked.

i sat beside christian as he was currently devouring a rack of ribs and i laughed as i surveyed him. "those ribs taste alright?"

he gave me a thumbs up, as he licked barbecue sauce off of his fingers. once he was done, i turned to face him. "so why didn't alexa join us?"

he shrugged. "some people have jobs laralyn. there is no way in hell her manager would let her take off for a month to screw around in australia with me."

i nodded at this. "sorry, i kinda forgot," i admitted. christian shrugged. "i'll be fine for a month cause i can facetime her and bother her all the time anyway."

i grinned as mitchel and his mother eventually returned, mitchel sitting beside me and biddi sitting in front of me.

"so i hear you're staying until christmas," biddi said, a smile on her face as she stuck her fork into some mac and cheese.

i nodded. "yeah, mitchel wanted me to spend a christmas with him in australia and it sounded beautiful. so we'll be here for a month!"

mitchel grinned vaguely at our discussion, as he knew how originally overwrought i was to meet his family and it was going perfectly so far.

"yep. we gotta cook her some shrimp on the barbie," he joked, his prominent australian accent leaking out.

i gave him a look of shock. "is that a real thing?"

"no way," he laughed. "i honestly have no idea where americans got that from."

i swatted his shoulder playfully, turning back to see biddi and christian snickering about something. mitchel kissed my cheek softly, blinking my attention back to him.

"hey angel, i'm really happy this is going well. i'm really over the moon that i finally got to bring you," he admitted.

i grinned and nodded. "your family is the coolest. i'm happy to be here."

he finally leaned down, pressing an actual kiss to my lips. "one day we can have all of this too. a home, a family, anything you want."

a blush crept to my cheeks as i thought about his words. owning a home with him somewhere as kids played in the backyard and we invited all our friends over for a cookout. it sounded like the perfect suburban dream and i wanted it with him.

"that sounds lovely mitch, but at the end of the day, all i need is you."
