Marcus's POV
I really didn't want to go home today. I decided to just skip school for today and maybe just walk around town to try and clear my mind. I went to the park and sat down on a bench. A few moments later, I started crying and I had no clue why. A girl came and sat next to me. She was about our age and she had Dark Brown hair, ivory skin, and these beautiful piercing sea green eyes. "Hey um, I couldn't help but notice you're crying. Are you okay?" She said. Her voice was gorgeous. I sniffled "yeah I'm okay." I replied. "My name is Willow" she said. I looked up at her. "I-I'm Marcus" I said. "Why are you crying? If you don't mind me asking." She said sweetly. "I honestly don't know. I've been in a fight with my twin brother for a while now and it's only making my depression worse." I Said. Then I realized, I just opened up to a girl I literally met like 3 minutes ago. "You have depression? I do too, but it's not as bad a case as yours. At least I don't think it is. I can't really tell. I've had it for years now." "I just got it, well not just. Like about 8 months ago. When my twin and I started drifting apart." She put her arm around me. I looked at her and she quickly took her arm back. "No no, it's okay. I needed that. Thanks." I Said. She smiled a little. She gave me a hug and I gave her one. Then, in the corner of my eye I saw him. I saw Lucas. He was watching me and Willow. I ignored Lucas and continued to talk to Willow. She actually listened to me and obviously I listened to her. We opened up to each other. It honestly felt good to get all of that off my chest. "Hey, I have a question." She said. "Okay?" I replied. "Do you cut?" She asked. I felt myself freeze. "It's okay if you do, if you do can I see them?" She asked. I slightly nodded my head. "I've never shown these to anyone. You have to keep it a secret." I said while jokingly putting a finger over my lips. She giggled and mimicked me. I showed her my arms and she ran her fingers over my scars. The shivered at her touch. Her eyes met mine. She smiled. I returned the smile. I finally had a friend. Someone who understood me. We exchanged phone numbers and promised to keep in touch. We planned on meeting here every Friday but if we had other plans then we'd text each other. I've known the girl for about 2 hours and we already acted like best friends. I found out she's the same age as us, but she doesn't go to our school. After she left and remained on the bench and Lucas ran over to me. "Who's that?" He asked. "Her name is Willow. I met her two hours ago." I Said. "Come on, I wanna take you home." He said grabbing my hand. "Lucas, I don't want to go home yet. I want to clear my head." I Said quietly. He sat down next to me. Just then, Samantha came and said "Come on loser, I have plans to get to and I don't intend on being late, and your brother won't leave without you." She gripped my arm that was covered in bruises. Neither of them knew that though. "Owww." I whined. Lucas came over to me. "Hey, be careful with him. Just chill, you'll get to your appointment. I promise." Lucas said. Then Samantha started yelling at both me and Lucas. Lucas stood up and started yelling at her too. I sat on the bench with my knees brought up to my chest and my hands on my ears. I started crying. Their yelling was unbearably overwhelming, but I couldn't understand why. "Please stop" I said. They didn't hear me. "STOP....PLEASE!" I yelled as more tears poured out from my eyes. This time they both turned to look at me. Lucas had a sympathetic look in his eyes while Samantha just had anger. "This little freak is going to make me late to my nail salon appointment!" She exclaimed while pointing at me. "THEN JUST LEAVE, AND TAKE HIM WITH YOU! I cause enough problems for you two anyway. Just leave please. I already know you hate me, so just go." I said. I could feel myself just lose control. I couldn't control any of my feelings anymore. I kept my hands over my ears and my knees close to my chest and I just screamed. I don't know why but I did. I didn't have a reason for feeling the things I do anymore. Lucas ran over to me and brought me close to him. "You can go Samantha. I'll call you later I promise. Love you" Lucas said quickly. Samantha stomped her foot and walked away angrily. "I'm sorry Lucas," I said quietly. "What for?" He asked. "For causing you two to fight. I'm causing problems for the two of you. I said I didn't want to, I still don't. Please just go with her. I'll be okay." I said in a hushed tone. "Marcus that's not your fault. Plus, last time you said you'd be okay, and here we are. I know you need me, you won't admit it, but you do. You're putting my feelings before your own. You can't be doing that 24/7, it's ruining you. Marcus I care about you, and you need my help. Please just let me be there for you. I want to be there for you, I want to help you." He said. I started crying a little more, not because I was sad, but I was happy. "I got my brother back." He quietly shushed me to help calm me down. We walked home, and I went to my room. He followed me downstairs. It was already pretty late, it was 11 PM. I just crawled into my bed and he silently watched me from my doorway. I turned so I was facing the wall opposite from the door. "I love you Marcus, I hope you know that." He whispered and quietly walked away. I listened to his footsteps go up the stairs. "I love you too," I whispered before letting my own weariness consume me.
