When Sage and Lacey walked in the doors of Hilton, Sage pulled Lacey close to her side as if she could protect her from the stares that they both got every day. Sage’s strong arm wrapped around Lacey; Lacey smiled as she slid her hand into Sage’s back pocket. Both girls knew it wasn’t going to be easy for Lacey that day because of what happened in the car. Once Lacey’s skin changed in a day, it will do it all day whenever it wants too, like her skin had a mind of its own. I need to learn how to control it, Lacey thought.
The new couple, standing in front of the gym, glanced over at Sage and Lacey. The boy whispered “Look at the gay couple.” Lacey’s head whipped over to look at them; her eyes met the boys that only made him laugh more. What she did was not like her; Lacey’s middle finger came up and flicked him off like it was the most natural thing in the world to her.
“Easy babe,” Sage kissed her head, pulling her to the left toward their locker, in the English hallway; they shared since the start of the school year.
“Why can’t they just mind their own damn business? We’re happy, their happy…” Lacey slid down the locker next to theirs and sat on the cold tilted floor.
Sage shook her head as she opened the old purple creaky locker. Inside the locker it was pictures of her and Lacey, Escape the Fate, Black Veil Brides, Breaking Benjamin and bands they’d met. Lacey’s and Sage’s favorite picture was of Andy kissing Lacey’s cheek while Sage was kissing her. They knew each of them was odd but they didn’t care. They loved each other. Sage closed the locker after putting books in the locker then slid down the locker, right next to Lacey.
“Dunno. I’d wait a few more days and they will be broke up and looking for someone else.” Sage stuck out her bottom lip and started fake crying.
Lacey watched Sage throwing her fake little fit. After a few seconds, Lacey found herself laughing. She knew it was what Sage wanted, for Lacey to smile and laugh. At that second, neither of them cared about the freshmen walking past them, giving them the evil eye or the well-known hair toss. Lacey got up from the floor and leaned against locker 351. Sage’s fake cry turned into a laugh, her long arms found Lacey then wrapped them around Lacey. A coo came out Lacey’s mouth that made Lacey blush.
“So this is later?” Lacey looked at Sage giggling.
Sage laughed kissing her deeply and with all the love they have for each other in it. She did something she wouldn’t have normally done in the school, Sage reached down and grabbed Lacey’s ass. “No, but I hope that makes your wanting easier.”
“It did.” Lacey kissed her back with the same amount for Sage if not a little more, minus the ass grabbing.
