I got out of the airport with the 4 girls who meant everything to me trailing behind, none of us were in the mood to talk as the flight from London had sucked out the energy from us and what made it worse was the heated argument that was still flaming. We had no more than 3 hours to get the the university and find our dorms. I hope I get to share my room with Carissa and Amber. I mean I don’t mind Violet or Beth but I wasn’t as close to them as I was to Carissa. We have been best friends since freshman year. She has been there for me through everything that had ever happened.
“Guys stop, we can’t just ignore each other forever, we need to find that car Violets dad had rented and get to the university quickly” Beth spoke in such a rushed voice I was sure that she would start screaming any moment soon if we don’t get to the car.
“I texted my dad, he will tell all your parents that we got here fine” Carissa said calmly and we all just nodded and soon found the car we had spent the last 5 minutes-which had seemed like centuries- looking for.
The driver saw us approaching and must have gotten the hint of who we were. “Hey ladies quickly sit inside I will put your luggage in the back… is this all you have? Just a bag each for the next few months?”
“Oh no, we had gotten the most of our stuff delivered here already, do you know how long it will take to get to the ‘Medical university of South Carolina’ it sounds so good even saying it” Violet spoke excitedly.
“A Good ten or fifteen minutes but don’t worry those will in a hurry”
And he was right it was not long before we arrived and the driver who was apparently called Wren helped get out our bags and gave his number in case we ever needed a ride. Saying goodbye to him we walked between the groups of people, each with a different expression on their face from the next; some were laughing while others seemed depressed.
“Oh my god I never thought I would be saying this but I am actually scared” Amber’s usual loud voice seemed to contradict her words.
“Don’t worry we all are” Carissa shouted loudly so she could be heard over the loud noise of the people surrounding us.
“It said in the email that we had to go the the main office to get our dorm number. So let’s just go and see there” I said to get it over with and so I could talk to Carissa alone since she seemed upset and I know she wouldn’t like me questioning in front of everyone. They all followed me and it wasnt long before we found the main office.
“Good Afternoon ladies, can you please tell your names one by one and I can give you your forms which need to be handed in when you enter assembly later on. I hope none of you are troublemakers; I wouldn’t like the idea of having more trouble than there already is”.
They all looked at me with a smirk on their faces as to say I needed to keep my hormone level in control and not do damage here.
“Now who is first?” the women at the desk continues
“Violet Wood”
“Here is your form; you will be in the room 24”
With a smile Violet moved to the side so I could get my form and room number
“Scarlett O’Conner”
“Here you go and your room is number 25”
“Thank you” I say taking the form and joining Violet on the side.
“Amber Adams”
“Room 26”
“Beth”
“What’s your surname sweetie?”
Wow way to go Beth, saying Beth Benson would’ve taken a lot of energy.
“Umm sorry it’s Beth Benson” she has a hint of redness on her cheeks, she never liked her surname so usually avoided saying it.
“You have a lovely name, your room is 26”
“I am Carissa Evans”
My heart was racing, I needed her in my room, I couldn’t be alone, it would be different not to have her around the whole time and she kept me sane every time I had something going on.
“And your room will be number 24”
It struck me that they all had someone; Amber was with Beth, Violet with Carissa. What about me? Of course I would have people I wasn’t friends with, it was always me, all through high school the teachers had always placed me in groups of people I had nothing in common with.
The next 4 years were going to be long I thought while walking to my dorm room…
