It wasn't easy to say 'Yes' at first, but it was all business anyway. And you had to. For the sake of your family.
Looking in the mirror, you saw a girl you hadn't imagined to exist before, a girl you didn't know. This wasn't the girl you imagined in a white dress walking down the aisle to her soon-to-be husband. This girl was someone who accepted her fate and that she needed to do this.
A white fishtail dress that engulfed your curves, perfectly. Lace sleeves and bare back. Looking once again in the mirror, the girl was beautiful. With a white flower crown on your head, you looked as if you came out of a magazine.
If you married someone else, you wouldn't afford a dress like this for your wedding. It was a fact.
You didn't feel the time pass, until someone knocked on the bride waiting room. Taking a deep breath, the door open cautiously, and your soon-to-be husband, popped his head inside the room. When you caught his eyes a wide smile drew on your lips.
Junmyeon smiled back just as wide as yours as he entered, closing the door behind him. If someone saw you two at that moment, they would think that you were deeply in love with each other. "Wow, you look amazing."
"You are here." You looked away immediately, feeling shy all of a sudden. "Thank you."
It was a silly thing that he made you feel shy. Especially that he was Junmyeon, your best friend. The fact that your parents decided this marriage shocked the both of you. It was hard to accept it. Neither of you, thought of each other that way.
Junmyeon was your best friend who you trusted the most. He was around as long as you could remember. Both of your parents were childhood friends that how you met Junmyeon in the first place.
Your father's business suddenly had some troubles and he needed a help from his friend. To do that, to merge both companies together, they arranged a marriage for you and Junmyeon. They thought since Junmyeon always stuck with you and the same went for you that this marriage wouldn't be a problem.
"You are always together anyway."
"We thought you liked each other."
"It doesn't have to be love. As long as you are happy. Plus, you like him. You will get to love him."
You would argue that you did love Junmyeon. But not that way. He had been just your best friend and nothing more. Your mother would argue back that it was the same anyway.
Seeing how uneasy you were about this marriage, Junmyeon asked you to do it for just one year and then they could have a divorce later.
"It's to help you and your family. I have no problem at all."
"But Junmyeon....."
"Do you hate me that much?"
"I love you. You know that. You are my best friend. But...."
"Just one year, Y/N."
You loved him. More than a friend. You had a crush on him for a long time, but Junmyeon never noticed. You gave up on him a long time ago. This marriage was something that will affect him more than it will affect you. Especially when Junmyeon had a girlfriend whom he liked.
He had to break up with her. He thought it wasn't fair to be with her and marry you, too.
He never noticed your feelings at all. He didn't know how much you were hurt because of him. And now, you were more hurt that you were the reason of his break up.
"Are you blushing?" Junmyeon asked, raising an eyebrow. He liked to tease you a lot, in a way that made your heart skip a beat.
"Shut up. I'm not." You looked away from him, trying to ignore the heat in your cheeks.
"Are you okay?" He asked, approaching you slowly. "I don't want you to worry. I will keep my promise. Just one year."
"I'm worried about you... And Sumi. Are you okay?"
Junmyeon's smile flattened. He nodded, rubbing his neck. "I'm okay. It's not like I'm marrying some stranger."
You chuckled, but it didn't sound like you were happy. It was as if you forced it, until it faded into the air.
"It started to feel like we are strangers. Marrying my best friend. It sounds like a cliché drama."
"But in dramas, those friends are in love and never told each other. We aren't. They got a happy ending. We will have a divorce."
You could swear that you heard your heart breaking into a million pieces, like broken glass on the floor. You, who had always kept your feelings to yourself, regretted not confessing to him sooner. He wasn't meant to be with you. He had someone else in his heart. He loved someone else. But never you.
And you started liking someone else. After trying to get over Junmyeon for many years.
"I just don't want to be awkward with you. Because I only have you Junmyeon. You're my BFF."
"We will not be. I promise."
