I walked into school, my backpack over one shoulder. I had always been different then most Abnegation. I never offered to help unless my father made me, I always ate before anyone else...

There's many reasons why I differ from the rules of the Abnegation. I am one of those rare Abnegation that work out in the gym on the lowest level of the school.

I needed my workout sessions to calm me down, and release the pressure on my 'perfect life'. I walked into the History room and I raised my hand for almost every question. I only was rivaled by the Erudite who hates the Abnegation.

I walked into the room that I was directed into. I saw a flash of black clothing and there was a Dauntless woman there. "I'm Tori. Sit down." She said and I did. "You'll have a bunch of choices. Good luck."

And I drunk the serum and felt my eyes close. I opened them and I was just standing there. I walked along and saw a knife and a steak.

I took neither and saw a dog standing there snarling. I crouched on the floor and it turned into a sweet puppy. Suddenly it charged at the girl and I sent it flying the other way, staying in between it and the girl. I was suddenly on a rooftop and the wind was blowing in my hair, whipping the ends into face.

I scaled the building and dropped onto the ground. Suddenly I was back in the room with Tori. I sat up and felt my eyes burning. I rubbed them. "What were my results?"

I asked her. "Dauntless, Erudite, Candor, and Abnegation." And I looked at her. "Only Amity was eliminated?" I whispered.

"You're gonna go home and tell your parents that the serum made you sink. Go home and don't tell anyone." Tori said and I walked out of the room, out the back way. I savored my freedom and I scaled the wall and smiled. I ran across the rooftops until I got to my house.

I made a quick and acrobatic descent to the ground and found my only 'friend' Tobias Eaton standing there. "Come on." I said and he nodded and followed me.

I pulled out a bottle of rubbing alcohol and I looked at him. "This will hurt." I warned and he gritted his teeth as I cleaned the wounds and blood off his back. I gave him a clean shirt and bandaged his back.

"You can stay in here. I'll say I'm eating in my room." I said and he nodded. "Thanks Sarah." He said and I nodded. "No one deserves that Eaton. Except for maybe your father." I said coldly and walked.

I cooked dinner and true to my word, took it in my room and shared it with Tobias. "What are you going to choose tomorrow?"

I asked, looking at him. "I don't know. I can't stay here Sarah." And I looked at him. "I get it. It's your choice." I said and opened the window. "Thanks." He said and he crawled out the window.

I shut it after him and I walked downstairs, washing the dishes. I walked into my room and found my mother waiting.

"Mom. I don't think I can stay here." I said and she smiled at me with a hint of sadness in her eyes. "It's okay. I was always expecting for either you, Beatrice, or Caleb to transfer." And I hugged her tightly, my eyes burning with tears. "I'm sorry." I said and she shook her head. "You can do whatever you want." She said and I smiled.

"Thanks Mom." I said and braided my hair back. I woke up at 6:30 and I walked into the washroom. I changed and I woke up my family. We took the bus and I stood at the back silently with Tobias. I reached out and grabbed his hand. I felt his hand shaking and I squeezed it.

I was before him and I took the knife and looked at my mom, remembering her words from earlier. I shut my eyes and dragged the knife across the palm of my hand and looked at the bowls.

I thrust my hand out and my blood hit the coals with a sizzle. "Dauntless!" Marcus announced. Soon it was Tobias's turn and he looked at me and he dragged the knife across his palm and it sizzled on the coals. "Dauntless!" Marcus said coldly. Tobias stood next to me and shredded his jacket to make a bandage for his hand. I caught up to the older Dauntless as we ran.

We began to scale the train tracks and I was almost faster then the older Dauntless. I jumped onto the train and found myself with the older Dauntless, Tori among them, and Tobias. "They're supposed to be in the other car with the initiates!"

Soneone else said. "So what? We're on the train aren't we?" I said coolly, my eyes empty and haunted. He looked away and my eyes returned to their normal earthy brown color with flecks of gold.

I jumped off with Tobias first. I rolled and got up. "I'll go first." I said coldly and I jumped off the ledge, holding my arm out to feel the wind. I hit the net and grunted. I rolled off with help from Lauren, the Dauntless Born instructor.

I nodded and she looked at me. "What's your name?" She asked. "Um..." I said and thought for a second. "I'm Hurricane."

I said and she nodded. "First jumper! Hurricane!" And a bunch of applause came from a bunch of Dauntless that were previously camoflagued expertly in the shade.

I smiled and inhaled the scent of the Dauntless Compound, determined to get to be a Dauntless Member. Soon everyone was down here with me and Lauren took the Dauntless Borns. "We're trying something different this year." Amar said.

We followed him into a room. "This is our room called a Fear Landscape. This is where you face your worst fears. Eric how about you go first?" He snapped at the Erudite transfer who was aggravating all of us.

He took his jacket off as slowly as possible and Amar stuck the needle in his neck vein. Eric got through in about 30 minutes. I was second to last and I went in. I went through them all in about 12 minutes. I waited for Tobias and Amar walked out to talk to me. "You just opened a random door? Was it always there?" And I shook my head.

"You're Divergent. Like me." He said and I nodded. "I know." I said and he nodded. "Be careful around here. You only have 5 fears." He said and I nodded. I walked to the cafeteria with Four and Amar. I got my plate and piled up my plate a ton.

I began eating, shovelling it down like a dog who hadn't eaten for a month.

A few weeks later, Amar came up to Four and I. "Hey. I've heard rumors that you guys are in here every day and in the fear landscape every night. There's no rules against having fun you know." He said and I taped my knuckles again and tossed the roll into my bag again.
