Chapter 3

* A week later*

RYANS POV

Today was the day we left for Hawaii. I had packed a case for me and a case for Abbi. It felt weird because Jackie usually did stuff like this.

Ben rang the doorbell,
"You ready?" He asked, looking first at me and then at Abbi who sat in my arms.

"Yep!" He wheeled Abbi's case to the car and we loaded all of our stuff in. His brother was driving us to the airport.

"Heyyy Tim!" I smiled as I entered the car.

"Hey Ry! And hey Abbi!" He said making her laugh.

Amy sat next to me on the way to the airport and she kept making Abbi giggle by tickling her.

"How old is Abbi now?" Tim asked, focusing his eyes on the road ahead.

"9 months" I told him and he nodded.

"You excited to get away and catch some sun?" Ben asked.

"Yeah it's just what we all need I think." I smiled down at Abbi who was tugging on Amy's hair.

"I agree" Amy chuckled.

We got to the airport and checked in. An hour later we were boarding our flight.

*In Hawaii*

BENS POV

Ryan had slept the whole flight with Abbi next to him. He looked exhausted, wow he really did need this holiday.

As we reached our hotel it was around 5pm in Hawaii. We were greeted with a glass of some sort of drink and a traditional necklace.

"I love hawaii" Ben smiled.

We went up to our rooms and unpacked and showered before going out for dinner.

RYANS POV

We found a little restaurant that was next to the beach. It was like a huge hut and was so cool. The fresh air was relaxing as we ate our meal. After we had eaten we all walked along the beach, we took our shoes off and let the sand roll over our feet. Amy and Abbi were walking in front of us giggling. Me and Ben walked slightly behind them and just talked.

"For the first time in a long time I feel happy." I looked out at the never ending horizon above the sea.

"Im glad to hear it. Im starting to get my best friend back again." Ben smiled.

"I just hope I can move on, for Abbi's sake."

"Ryan, grief never leaves you, but you learn how to live with it. You know it's okay to cry every now and again. But you gotta stay strong for your little girl."

I stared at Abbi who was being chased by Amy along the shore. She was giggling and looked so happy. I had tried to talk to her about mommy being an angel now, but I just couldn't. The time wasn't right yet.

I patted Ben on the back,
"Thank you." We traded smiles before I ran towards Abbi.

"I'm gunna get'cha you lil monster!" I shouted as Abbi tried her best to get away. Her face was full of joy as I lifted her into the air and swung her around in my arms.

*the next morning*

We were by the pool and Ben, Amy and Abbi were playing together in the water. I checked my emails and saw one from a familiar name. Laura Devon.
The last time I had seen her was in LA when I got hella drunk and stayed the night at her place. All the memories came pouring back and I cringed at how I had acted that night. Wow.

The email read:

Hi Ryan, I've been debating whether to send this email for a while now. I read about what happened to Jackie and I am so so sorry. I am always here if you need to speak or need anything!
We should meet up soon, its been forever!
Send my love to Ben and Amy,

Lots of love, Laura xo

I smiled as I read the email. It really had been forever. She was an amazing girl and I kinda miss being in the studio with her.

I replied:

Hey Laura!

Hope you've been well. I've locked my self away for the past couple of months but Ben made me realise that I have to face the world some day, hence the fact that I am currently in Hawaii. It's great to hear from you and we should totally meet up when I get back. Maybe record that song you did with Ben?;)

Love, Ryan x

I sent it and Ben shouted for me,

"C'mon man, I gotta beat yo ass at water volleyball!" He smirked

I closed my laptop and ran for the pool.

"CANNONBALL!!!"
