Marshall Lee's POV
I raced down the stairs, putting on a blue jacket. I grabbed an umbrella just before I left the house, in case of rain.
I exited my cave and headed towards the graveyard.
I was so excited to spend time with Fionna. I'll never admit to anyone that I was crying because she was hurt, not even her. There was just something about Fionna that made me happy.
As I neared the graveyard, I could see something in the far distance, blurred by fog.
As I floated a bit closer, I realized that it was Fionna. She was sitting on a gravestone, looking up at the sky. She wasn't wearing her hat, which was weird because she would always wear her hat.
I wanted to scare her. I already knew what the ending result would be, but I didn't care, I just had to scare her.
I quietly crept up behind her and gently tapped her shoulder. She turned around and I put on my most gruesome demon face, and hissed.
Fionna's whole body turned as she gasped. Her fist followed from behind her head, and struck my face.
"OW!" I said, as she stood up.
"What the math, dude! You know not to sneak up on my like that!" She yelled, looking angry.
I just stared at her. She looked different.
"Sorry, Fi." I said, apologizing. "But you kinda shoud of expected that." I added, replacing my monster face with a grin.
"Yeah, and expected a punch to the face." She said.
"Actually, I did." I said to her, floating onto gravestone next to her.
"So, where's your hat?" I asked her, noticing that her hair was shorter than usual.
Fionna turned her head to look at me. "It's in my bed, pretending to be me." she answered.
My jaw almost dropped. "Fionna, does Cake know you're here?" I asked her.
A devilish grin grew on here face. "Marshall, I wouldn't be here right now if Cake knew." she said, then sighed. "We got into a fight earlier. She really ticked me off." Fionna said, looking away, trying to fight back her oncoming tears.
I really cared for Fionna, and it pained me to see her like this. The best thing I could do was to have her explain things to me so I could help her get through this. "So, what happened, Fionna?" I asked, sitting on the ground to make her feel comfortable.
She sniffled, then looked at me and smiled. "Cake and I got into an argument because she says that you're a bad influence." she explained to me.
Well, that was kind of true.
She continued, "I tried to tell her that you're not that bad, Marsh. But she started yelling at me, and she said we can't talk or see each other anymore!" She had to stop to catch her breath before she spoke again.
"She made me so mad, so I went in the bathroom and cut my hair. I did a good job, though, right?" She asked me, gesturing towards her haircut.
I just smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, Fi, you did an awesome job! " I told her. "You look really beautiful." I added.
Fionna blushed at the comment. And I realized what I had just said. I instantly looked away, feeling stupid. But why? It wasn't a lie. She really did look beautiful. She looked beautiful with long hair and short hair. She'd look beautiful no matter what.
"Thanks, dude." She said to me, and I replied with a smile.
"So what do you wanna do now?" I asked.
