"Ash, come on! You've been lying in your bed since the past one hour!" Alexa jumped upon my bed, dragging my blanket away. "You said you wanted to take me to the Mall!"
"Yeah, no," I spoke lazily, refusing to wake up from the state I was in, snuggled up next to my teddy. "That can happen some other day. I'm too sleepy to go shopping."
"Babe, you're waking up right this moment unless you want me to snatch Patchy," Alexa warned, causing me to sit up in a jolt.
I wouldn't let anyone take Patchy, my big snuggle bear, away from me, no matter what.
Today was Saturday, and I had promised to get Alexa new clothes so that she could look a little feminine for her date. Shirts and sneakers were all she wore, whatever the occasion be.
"So," I started, "What is Mark's favorite color?"
"He says he likes the color red. I was honestly surprised because red is such a girlish color," Alexa expressed her confusion.
"Him liking something out of the ordinary shows that he is different from other boys. Maybe there's a good side to his mysteriousness after all," I opined. "Anyhow, remind me to buy you something red now."
"Haha. You think you are too cool."
"Yes, I am."
"No, you aren't."
"Am too."
"Are not."
"Am too."
"Are not."
"Am too."
"Are not."
"Am -
"Girls! Stop your bickering!" We heard a familiar sound and watched as Steph walked in. "When will you two grow up? I've set up some breakfast on the table, go and feed yourselves. You two seem hungry."
"You didn't have to do that, Steph," Alexa said, as a gesture of courtesy. "We were just about to head to the mall."
"Oh no, you wouldn't want to step outside and faint while driving or something. You girls are not heading out without eating. Understand?"
"Yes, mom," I answered sarcastically.
I couldn't really blame her though. Steph had taken up all the responsibilities since mom and dad died. She managed to keep all of the pieces together, which would have broken apart too soon if it was any normal human being. It was obvious that she'd pick up some motherly habits along the way.
We walked up to the dining room, where my dear sister had boiled eggs and bread waiting for us. We gobbled down the food in a few minutes, as we were starving. After saying our goodbyes to Steph, we scurried out the door.
-----------------------------------
The loud, booming voice of Fredrick Dave, our local radio host welcomed us as we entered the mall.
"What's up, my lovely people of Louisville! I have another fun game for you today. I will pick up 5 beautiful ladies and 5 handsome men to flaunt their current outfits!"
We decided to keep the impromptu fashion show higher on our priority list. Sure, we had a fashion crisis right now, but it could wait, right?
Watching the random people picked up by Fredrick walk down the ramp was quite pleasing to the eyes. Some people wore just a normal shirt and jeans, some were dressed up as if they had come to attend a party. I discreetly sighed when he didn't select us; I would definitely not want to look like a laughing stock with unflattering moves on the ramp.
