"OMG, Why can't miss just give up trying to teach us something" exclaimed a frustrated girl, staggering home with her arms clutching 2000 pages worth of books.
"I know it isn't ideal, but at least it is better than home" This was obviously the overworked girl's friend because she was helping her with what seemed to be 3000 more pages of books.
"The sky looks a bit more orange tonight doesn't it?" Said the friend of the girl.
"No it doesn't and if you had a shred of self respect you would actually complain to miss about the work overload we have been receiving lately"
"That's completely false, just because some are more ambitious than others". These words clearly had an impact on the over-worked girl because she stood, mouth agape, goggling at her.
"What ever, I really should get started on this essay" she said, thrusting the books into the air. When home, relieved of the pain the books were giving her, she sat back
and looked at the sun. Maybe she was right about it being brighter, it spun golden shadows across she wall of books with a 34 paged S.A in the eye of the storm. She sat there, pondering about why it could be and finally came to a conclusion that was very far-fetched. "I wreckon Ember just used her magic, not that she has any, to make the sun a tone brighter just so she can stare at me." She immediately laughed at this prediction of it's complexity involving her suspicions that Ember was secretly lesbian.Half way through the night, and ear piercing siren engulfed her ear drums and disrupting her from a very pleasant dream. Thinking logically, she went downstairs to get a glass of water since she hadn't noticed the need for water since now. While trotting downstairs, she had a marvellous view of the evolving London skyline owing to the fact that her house had a window, the size of a small wall that was always kept clean, in perfect position to distract and draw attention to the sunset. However, partway through nosing through the window, another ear splitting scream came gushing through the streets, closely followed by a fire engine. Putting two and two together, she assumed that a barbeque had fought out of control. Eventually, 6 or 7 more ambulances swarmed the street like a rushing wave. Sitting down, her drink in one hand, she reluctantly turned on BBC one and read the breaking news. A tower block, a street away from hers was ablaze with the most power hungary looking fire she had ever set eyes upon. She spat out her drink and dropped the glass with a satisfying sound. It echoed around the house.
Her mother, a plump but warm and loving woman arrived at the scene armed with a dust pan and brush
"Honestly, Amy, if one compared your ability to hold thing compared to a lamp post, you would be embarrassed." Seeing the look on Amy's face her face broke into a smile that someone with a rock for a heart could not deny. Than reaching in for a hug, a quick glance at the T.V didn't tell her what she needed to know. For the second time, she looked at the television however with a morning-full looking on her face. She stood up, completely ignoring the fact that water was covering more and more space over time, looked out the window and ran into the direction of the tower block...
"Mum!" Shouted Amy, though clearly not loud enough to since she didn't come running back. Was she crazy? Why was she running towards the danger?
"What is she doin-" She was interrupted by several glass windows blowing
out the building, landing on their neighbours car. "What is going on!?"
Another sound was heard from the distance however this time it was different. It sounded as though a scream. It would not be wrong, however, because her mind immediately strayed to the image of a woman, dropping dead with burn marks all over her face. She shuddered at the thought of this. Soon enough, the cables to the window washers platform that she has used for charity before, has snapped and it was danglilng with one end lop sided. One thud on the ground and a dust cloud told her it had smashed into the ground, and she could've sworne that she saw something crack in the window. Remembering her mother was in this mess, she fell to the ground, sobbing, adding to the spilled water that would've been lethal for any insects. She watched the minutes tick by, every minute, every second was a struggle for her not to completely collapse. After a while, it seemed she had no tears left to cry because the wailing got to a point of spine tickling but the splash of tears could not be seen.
A knock on the door pulled her out of her state immediately, because she didn't know who was behind thar door, she pleaded inside her head, that it was mum. It was, however, not how she pictured her. She staggered into the hallway, clutching an unconscious body and her hair was singed so badly it looked like it had been cut by a 4- year-old. She fell onto the sofa with soot acting like a contour across her cheek. Without thought, she reached into the freezer and emptied out a whole bag of ice onto her mother who claimed she was OK however, Amy thought differently. The sky grew brighter outside and she forced her eyes open, feeling as though they might collapse at any second. After a couple of minutes of getting changed, she heard a knock on the door and she knew instantly it was her friend, Ember. She had blond frizzy hair at the back and darker hair at the front. She always wore bright yellow socks, even if it was against the dress code. She was glum and down-heartened, just as everyone in the neighbourhood hood however, even the sight of her made a smile crack on face
"Come on, let's go" Said Ember with a down tone in her voice that made Amy feel bad. Staggering along with all their books in there hands, they set off for school, slightly earlier than usuall because of the weight of her books. "Do you think they'll talk about it at school, the teachers I mean." Said Ember
"I am not sure, perhaps they will mention it but not in detail."
Stopping in her tracks, Ember wore an expression that Amy had seen too much. It was the expression she wore an when she had forgotten something
"MRS ENGLISH HOMEWORK! I COMPLETELY FORGOT!" Dumping the books on Amy's arm, she bolted down the street while Amy set off at a trot. She would love to walk quicker, but the weight of 6 history books only took away from the matter.
Whilst walking in the ever-dark, gloomy and peeling corridors, Amy glanced down at her timetable, a tear rolling down her cheek. However, it was like a fire burst into life. She realised she had double RE which she was buoyant about because of the teacher. The subject was OK, but the teacher made it 100 times better. Her name was MissFarinhite. She was short and has rosy cheeks both sides. Her brown hair was parted neatly, just beneath her shoulders. She had an aura of immense happiness and joy. Ever since the fist lesson she was always tolerant of her class. Ember showed up a couple of minutes late, however Miss simply smiled, seeing the bright line down her cheek. Why had see been crying? As usual, Miss asked the usual quesion and the most enjoyable starter that always was something of their own opinion. When a student tried to make a joke, you could tell the laugh was fake, however Amy overlooked this because her good qualities easily out number her flawes. At the start of period two, Amy was getting a little restless because the classroom was stifling and she was out of water. Although, Miss pulled them out of the class for a 'quick' chat which seemed to take half of period two.
Amy and Ember always had a close relasionship with the teacher.
"I know what happened last night and how it affected you, Amy. I also gathered that you might forget your homework so I did it for you."handing a 50 paged S.A. on the MayaEmpire to Ember."And Amy, because I heard what happened to your brother, I brought you this." She thrust a box covered in a floral wrapping. "Don't tell anyone, though, I don't want anyone to know that that i have favorites." Said Miss, winking to Amy and Ember.
A loud screech told them period 3 had just began so they thanked Miss and promised to come back at the end of the day.
After taking history notes, barely managing to write the assessment with their hand writing all over the place.
Because tutor was the only 25 minutes of the school day they caught a break, they headed straight to MissFarinhite's room to unwrap the present with Ember. She put an ArianaGrande album in the background which only added to the joy-full mood. She tore apart the paper which was thrown to one side, reveling a box full of at least 15 items and a card, which looked expensive for a card. A couple of things were in the box to help out her mother and the rest were for her. Her favorite of course was the whole novel of the HarryPotter books and 3 extra prequels to the series. A tear rolled down her cheek and then burst out saying
" I haven't had anything this good since 7 months ago which was Christmas."
" I could not think of two students more worthy of this" Said Miss
"Well, I wish I could pay you back but..we are struggling a little bit money wise."
"Don't be daft, you pay me back everytime I teach you, both of you, and that is all I could ask."
All three off them burst into a hug that seemed almost rib breaking.
The rest of the day seemed to fly by. At the end of period five, Amy and Ember met outside miss' class. Ember seemed particularly happy about something and it was almost funny. They knocked and she opened it, and Ember instantly thrust a paper which had a 215% scribbled at the top. Still confused, Ember explained the MayaEmpire quiz they took and it was all due took Miss. Perching themselves on the desk, kicking their legs on the desk, describing their day, while the sound if keys beige tapped could be faintly heard. For the first time in today, Amy smiled
