Connor slowly opened his eyes, squinting at the sudden light in his eyes. He turned over, poking Hank in the cheek. Hank groaned and batted at Connor's hand, but Connor poked him again. Hank opened one eye. "Really?" he said, his voice scratchy. Connor didn't respond, but jumped on him. He played with Hank's hair, running his fingers through the silver mess.
Hank just smiled, looking into his chocolate brown eyes. Hank already knew how soft Connor's lips were, but ran his thumb over them anyways. Connor put his hands on Hank's chest, taking in every detail. He got an idea and fished in the drawer next to their bed. He pulled out a lime green polaroid camera, and snapped a picture of Hank. "Hey, not fair! You don't have bedhead!" Hank groaned, but he couldn't hold back his laugh. Hank grabbed the camera and snapped a photo of Connor blushing.
"Adorable." he said, handing the camera back to Connor. He smiled before placing his hands on Connor's thighs. Connor reached to set the camera down on the nightstand, but missed and lost his balance, falling off Hank and onto the floor. He groaned and cupped his head, Hank laughing. "C-Connor? Are you... are you... o-okay?" Hank breathed out. Connor giggled and stuck his hand out for Hank to pull him up. Hank caught his breath, and grabbed Connor's hand.
Connor pulled him down onto the floor, catching Hank off guard. Hank face planted, and laid there for a moment. Connor burst out laughing, and grabbed his stomach. Hank sat up smiling, and kissed Connor gently. "Good morning tin can." he whispered before standing up. He felt a small hand pull on his, and an angry Cameron was dragging him out of the room. Connor laughed again, before getting up to follow them. Her eyes were a crimson red, strikingly different from her usual pink, (she was a happy child). She dragged Hank into her room, before stopping abruptly. "DAD!" she yelled as she slammed her foot down. "Sumo ATE Gavin!". She was fuming. Connor giggled as Hank picked up the chewed detective doll.
Connor forgot to feed him last night, as they were up talking to Kara, Alice, and Luther all night. Cameron waddled towards Connor, her bottom lip quivering. His laughter suddenly gone, Connor bent down to hold her. Hank noticed she was clearly more than angry at the dog, and he didn't know how to react at first. Sumo usually never did anything bad. He sighed before hollering for Sumo. The dog thumped into the room, uninterested in what was occurring. Hank, never having done this before, put his hands on his hips. Connor snapped a picture, giggling at how cute Hank looked. Hank rolled his eyes, although a smile crept onto his lips.
"Sumo! Bad dog! We don't chew on things!" Hank said in a stern tone. Connor was slightly "turned on" as Hank would say. Cameron, seemingly satisfied, stood up and stroked Sumo's head. She looked serious, but Hank laughed at her stubby legs and furrowed brow. "Sumo, you are forgave. I'll still give you my dinner." she said, clearly feeling bad for Sumo's scolding. The big dog just turned and licked her face, and her eyes were back to their common pink.
Connor stood up, grabbing Cameron's hand. "Let's take Sumo outside, Cammy." Connor said in a soft voice. Hank wasn't one for nicknames usually, but Connor loved calling her "Cammy", so he didn't protest. She was now about 5, growing faster by the hour. She was still very short, but chubbier. He followed them outside, taking a picture of the two, along with Sumo. He called Kara, seeing if she'd be willing to babysit Cameron for the night. Cameron absolutely adored Alice, and she clung to her more than her dads. Kara agreed happily, and said she'd get her around 5.
Hank went back inside to make breakfast, anticipating his night with Connor. He made scrambled eggs, with french toast slices, hash browns, cheesy grits, and summer sausage. He grabbed a pitcher of orange juice from the fridge, before setting out the dishes on the table. He served everyone's plate, being plenty generous to Cameron. She didn't have to eat to survive, but she insisted that it made her tummy feel warm and bubbly. He poured orange juice into two glasses, and green herbal tea into another. He put some sugar in, and a lemon slice on the rim of the glass.
He got out syrup, ketchup, and whipped cream. He made a smiley face on Cameron's french toast, and a heart on Connor's. He poured syrup onto everyone's meal, the used salt and pepper on their eggs. He put ketchup on his and Cameron's eggs as well, but not Connor's, as he didn't enjoy it. Connor had strangely developed a liking to eating and determining the ingredients, as the meals never provided any nutritional value to him. He scrapped the rest of the eggs and sausage in the pan, into Sumo's food bowl.
He stepped outside, calling for his family. Sumo came thrashing through the yard, slowly down to get up the steps. Cameron followed after, Connor smiling and stilling behind her. He kissed Hank on the cheek before heading inside, Hank following. Hank sat down, ready to eat. Hank and Connor dug in, chatting about the news. "Kamski just opened a "birthing" center." Connor said in between bites of hash brown. Hank almost spat out his eggs. "What?! For androids?" he managed to stammer out. "Yeah. Basically the customer goes in, fills out paperwork on their race, religion, all that, and Kamski genetically engineers what their child would look like." Connor replied. "I'm so happy for those people. There can be so many more families now." Hank said sincerely.
Cameron still sat there, her food untouched. "What's wrong, princess?" Hank asked, the concern showing in his voice. "Daddy, why don't I have a mommy?" she asked. Connor was stunned. Hank winced, before responding, "Because sweet pea, he's a boy, so he's your daddy. If he was a girl, he'd be called mommy. Either way, he still does the same things.". Her face softened a bit. "So i'm not weird?" she asked. "Even if you are, we love you." Connor said, sipping his tea.
