Warnings: mentions of abuse

"So, what's the deal here?" Connor looked back at me in the back seat. We were on our way to investigate someone because his neighbor had called in forty-eight different times to report that she had heard sounds of a child screaming. Apparently this guy has a bit of a criminal record. A history with many drugs, including red ice, and a suspect in 2 murder cases.

Hank stops the car next to the house, and already i'm mapping out the best places  to hide the kid if we have to. I decide to walk up by myself first. We had decided it would be less suspicious. My glasses I wore were a pair I made at home, which worked fine for me, and allowed anyone with my phone or a password to see what I saw.

"Hello, sir!" I faked an excuse for my appearance. "So sorry to bother you, but I'm from a service company, and we wanted to ask local residents about their living situations to see what we should help with-" "come in." The man grumbled and moved out of the way. Already this was evidently a terrible place for a child to live. The place was disgusting, filthy. I noticed he wasn't paying attention to me, so I slipped into the hallway and found a child's room.

There was a young boy with short, dark brown hair and dark eyes that almost looked black. His clothes were torn, and so were most items in his room. "It's okay, I'm here to help you. I promise i won't let you get hurt." The child's eyes lit up at the word help. He pressed a finger to his lips and pulled up a torn sleeve to show some scars. I motioned for Hank and Connor to come in. "This was fun and all, but now you've got to go."

I whipped around and the father was there, hovering in the doorway. I moved in front of the little boy. "No. I won't let you hurt this boy anymore." He pulled out a gun, and aimed it at me, but before he could do anything Connor was on top of him. Hank ushered me out of the house and then went to help connor cuff the guy. Once the child was outside, I kneeled down in front of him. "My name is Y/N, and I know this is a lot to take in but bare with me. I am a police detective, and those two men in there are Hank and Connor. They are my friends, and they're gonna help keep you safe, okay?" The boy nodded.

I got the boy into the back seat of the car as hank and Connor came out and we waited for someone to bring the man to the station so we could accompany the boy. He told us his name was Lucas. We brought Lucas into the station. Connor pulled the chair from his desk so Lucas could sit down, as Hank was protective of his desk regardless of the situation. "Can you tell us what happened in that house, Lucas?" The boy looked at a device to his left.  "You're recording me?"  Hank chuckled. "Smart kid. It's okay, sport. This is just so we can confirm this with the station so they will keep the bad man away from you."

Just then there was yelling, and the boy's father was being held back by two officers. I went to go help the officers get him into a cell. When I finally came back Connor was on his knees, holding a shaking Lucas in his arms, petting his hair and telling him it was alright, and Hank was in the big man's office.

I kneeled down next to Connor and Lucas.  "Hey, Kiddo... he's in a cell now,  and he won't get out." I wrapped an arm around each of their shoulders, hugging them gently. There was the sound of a camera clicking, and I turned my head to see Hank with my Polaroid camera, taking a  picture out of the camera. "These things are really cool. Old. But cool. Anyways I talked to the boss man and he said we can take him back to our house and make sure he feels safe." With that we immediately got moving and drove to the house.

Once we got there, hank opened the door and let us in first. "Puppy!" The little boy looked at the large fluffy animal in awe. "That's Sumo. He's a friendly dog." Sumo lifted his head, his tongue flopping out of the side of his mouth. He got up and trotted over, sniffing the child in front of him and licking his hands and face, making Lucas giggle. Connor tapped my shoulder and I looked at him. He gestured to his hand behind his back, which displayed the words hungry, thirsty, and slightly malnourished. I simply nodded and went over to the fridge only to realize it was empty.

"Hey kid, will you be okay if I leave you with these 3 for a bit?" Lucas looked at me with a smile on his face and nodded.  I felt my mouth curl into a peaceful smile at the sight of my favorite boys. Connor had perched himself on the floor with Lucas and Sumo, while Hank sat at the table, smiling down at the trio.

I walked to Hank, messing his hair up. "You, watch your language, watch your beer." Hank grumbled and fixed his hair. I walked over to Lucas next, and patted his head. "I will be back soon, If you need me, make one of these idiots call me." I patted sumo on the head before moving over to Connor. "And you..." I looked at him. His gorgeous eyes, and that perfect face. He looked back at me with... adoration. It made my heart flutter and I leaned over, kissing his cheek. A sudden look of surprise crossed his face and I smiled at him. "You just try not to burn the place down, okay?" And with that I got up, and went out the door with my car keys, catching a small glimpse of Connor ghosting his fingers over his own cheek.

~Later~

I set 3 bowls of macaroni and cheese down on the table. "Dinner bell! What do you guys want to drink? We have apple juice, milk, water, and tea."
"Apple juice!" "Water, please." I got Hank and Lucas their drinks and got myself  some milk, and then sat down at the table.

After dinner we all decided it was time for bed and got settled in. Hank and Sumo slept in Hank's room, and I let Lucas sleep in my bed, seeing as Connor would be there if he needed anything. Connor does not sleep of course, but he likes to pretend to. I still don't know why. I laid down on the couch and closed my eyes.

"Y/N?" I opened my eyes to see Connor standing over me. "Y/N, you can sleep in my bed." He peered down at me. I shook my head. "No, that's fine..." he tried protesting but I continued to refuse. "No, I want you to be comfortable." He went quiet for a moment. "Well... what if you joined me?" A slight blush grew on my cheeks but I played it off. "Are you asking me to cuddle with you?" He looked at his feet in embarrassment. I stood up and hugged him, my head resting on his chest. "I accept."

!!~Bonus~!!

I woke up with a pair of arms wrapped around me. "Good morning." I whispered. Connor pulled me closer to him. "Good morning" I looked up at him and smiled, kissing his cheek again. A smirk played on his lips as he gently grabbed my chin and kissed me. "I love you."

A/N: I hope you liked it! There are more on the way, and don't be afraid to post suggestions.
