BONUS CHAPTER
THE WEDDING
My hands moved above my head in time to the pounding music, a smile pulling at the corner of my lips as my friends and I swayed in time to the loud music. I felt every emotion possible. All I could think about was tomorrow. My wedding. It was amazing to think I was marrying him. After all these years, after the ups and downs, after the hurt and pain now we were tying the knot.
Nothing could make me happier than Luke. He knew me better than I knew myself. He knew all the right things to say, he knew how to make me laugh, he knew everything there was to know about me. It still shocked me that he knew how I was going to react to a situation before I had even reacted.
I started swaying my hips back and forth as the base picked up. I noticed a couple of guys’ eyes on my exposed legs, however, I didn’t care. Normally I would have felt self-conscious and clung to Luke, wanting him to act as a shield. However, not tonight. Tonight I would enjoy myself. This was my last night of not being married and I was going to celebrate what was coming tomorrow.
“Shots!” I squealed as my friend brought over a tray of eight shot glasses. The group of my friends shrieked as the alcohol burned down our throats, followed by the sound of our giggles as the drinks started to give us that all too familiar buzz.
I grabbed Emily’s hand and pulled her to the centre of the dance floor where we continued to dance.
“I can’t believe you are getting married!” She squealed as she rearranged the tiara that perched on the top of my head.
“Me neither!” I chirped happily. I never expected to fall for Luke the way I did. After the trip to England things just got better and better. Luke had been the most amazing boyfriend ever. He had taken me on date after date and I had fell harder and harder for him.
Everyone was doubtful we would make it through college – Luke had been a player after all. It had been difficult, we had both tried our best to keep the spark alive, however, with 400 miles between us it was harder than either of us had ever expected. Before we had left for college we had been naive. We thought it would be easy. We thought there was nothing that could break us. College had changed us though. It showed that nothing is as easy as it looks and sometimes love isn’t enough. But in Luke and I’s case it was.
“And to Luke!” Emily continued her eyes glinting with excitement. “I still remember the trip to London,” she reminisced. Emily likes to think she had a part in getting Luke and I together – I let her believe whatever she wants.
“I love him,” was my response as pictures of Luke flooded my mind. I thought of his chocolate brown hair, his sea blue eyes and his perfect baby pink lips.
Luke’s POV
I smiled as the last of my beer travelled down my throat. The goofy grin remained on my lips as another beer was placed in front of me. My friends were going all out to get me as drunk as possible.
“Last one,” I chuckled as I started on my fourth beer. I was not getting drunk tonight. I would not be hung over for tomorrow. Tomorrow was going to be the most important day of my life. Tomorrow was the day I was going to marry the love of my life, my soul mate, my best friend. I never thought I would ever be lucky enough to marry Sophie.
“Come on man!” Ben, one of my friends, yelled, “It’s your last night of freedom!” He continued. However, he was wrong. Tomorrow was the first day of the rest of my life. I was trapped in a prison of misery without Sophie, and tomorrow was the day I would finally be set free forever. I just shook my head in response, smiling down at the table. He wouldn’t understand, he couldn’t understand. To understand he would have to fall in love, he would have to meet the one.
